Help! Worried about getting my head knocked off.

That sounds deadly. A freak out where she gets loose and anything could happen. Someone, or her, could get killed. In an arena at least she can't go anywhere.

I had one on total box rest for 3 months, following an operation, then a bad infection. I found he was much better to handle on tracks or quiet roads. If I took him in an open space (arena, field) basically like OP said, any soft surface, it just blew his head.

Sounds a good plan @Landcruiser. At least at a rehab yard you know she’s getting the correct walks without stressing over that and everything else.

Is the vet happy with her progress?

Yes. Her last ultrasound a couple of weeks ago showed a much cleaner joint although you can still see the damage to the meniscus. All the murkiness is gone. She's trotting up sound (she was never lame as such anyway). Vet thinks rehab yard is a great idea.
