Help? Would you report this?

Im not entirely sure wether to report the people who own the horses across from mine they aren't gypsys but apparently do sell all there horses/foals to them although im not sure how true this is but it wouldn't susprise me?

There is two mares and two foals one foal is ever so friendly but he has a massive gash on his back leg that to me looks sore and slightly inflammed although it doesn't look fresh i've not see anyone there and doesn't look like its been treated with anything at the moment just to keep it clean etc while it heals? Both mares feet are just disgraceful there overgrown with massive cracks one looks like her hoof is almost in half the crack is rather big! The foal didn't seem to be lame on the leg but it was hard to get a good look as he kept walking behind his mum. There also on very lush grass for coloured cobs imo. Also foal has a few bald patches to. Mums look in ok condition they will probably be ribby by the time they take them off the field like last year.

So would you personally report this to the rspca/ilph? Even if they can just treat and advise on the foal i suppose it would be a plus?
 
I agree at least you feel that someone will monitor even if they cant do anything on this occassion
 
i would call ILPH, i called the RSPCA yesterday about the local gypsies to me carrying a pig of about 3/4 months around at the school then toss in the back of car like a toy. as soon as i told the women on the phone the address she put me on hold then came back saying i would have to phone DEFRA.
 
Basically we found that the RSPCA will not do anything providing the animals have adequate food, water and are in good bodily condition. We had a similar problem near us (re. feet) and that was the response we had! I know it sounds horrible but thats the way a lot of them see it nowadays.

My friend had a similar problem with some gypo ponies feet etc and reported it and got a similar reply to you thats why im not sure if its even worth a call sometimes for things like that as they dont generally do anything!

Im going to see if anyone has cleaned or put anything on the foals wound tomorrow night and if i not i will try the Ilph and see what they say. Also its mum has its headcollar dangling of her head but she doesn't let you quite close enough to take it off and that worrys me about the foal or her getting there feet stuck in it to.
