Another yard A and B thread, really unsure what to do.
We've been at yard A for six months and it's brilliant. Horse is settled there, and it offers everything I want. The only problem is it's quite far out, at least a 20 minute drive on a good day.
Yard B is a lot closer to home, about a 10 minute drive and still offers everything I want. It's close to my old instructor so I could go back to having lessons with her as well.

The only problem is I'm supposed to be doing work experience at yard A in July. It's too late now to back out and I was very excited to be doing it there. I really want to move my horse to yard B but I can't move him then do work experience at yard A months later. I could wait until after work experience but it's 5 months away and there might not be space at yard B then. I'm really stuck at what to do. Anyone got any ideas???

Why can you not do your work experience at Yard A if your horse moves to Yard B?

All it should involve is an honest discussion with the yard owner about how much you like the yard but the travelling is difficult - I assume you are young and reliant on lifts etc - so you are moving the horse but you really hope that you will still be able to do your work experience as you really like the way they do everything etc etc.

Just be very polite, honest and flatter them about their yard. Hopefully it will be fine.

Is it just the drive at yard a that bothers you? If that's your only problem with the yard I'd be staying there. Yard b might not be as good as it appears when you actually get there and good supportive livery yards (as yard a sounds like) can be hard to find!

I have had a few issues with a girl down at yard A as well, my horse can get stressy at times and she's said some horrible things about him. The hacking isn't also brilliant at yard A and a lot better a yard B.

We're going to look further into yard B in the week. I plan on calling them and talking to them, going for a look round the yard if talking to them goes well and if both go well, talk to my old instructor who has a lot of experience with that yard.
