Hello, am after some advise with my OHs Northern Inuit. Hes 18months old, and very head strong, at the moment he has a bad habit of chasing (and sometimes bringing down) rabbits, deer etc. Whe he picks up the scent it is incredibly hard to bring him back down to earth and listen. He is by no means a agressive dog (far from it) but other walkers have picked up on this and have posted signs saying beware.
Any ideas on any training methods?

You really need to work on his recall, get him on a long line, and do some one on one recalls armed with some treats and maybe introduce whistle or clicker to help him assosiate each sound with a reward for coming back, with no distractions in the near vacinity, call him to you then treat and click, repeat this method and keep him on the long line for a good few months and when u try him off again do it inan enclosed area and use your new methods to call him back.
It's very hard to get this particular strong instinct out of dogs, but allowing him to carry on doing it will make matters worse.
Maybe give severnmiles a buzz, she may beable to tell u if this is common of the breed and give you some tips/advice.
