Im just building my own yard for my BSJA horses and the yard overlooks a paddock less than a quarter of an acre which i do not own. Over the summer the lady of the paddock decided she wanted to breed off two of her mares so they arrived along with a stallion. This ended up being a real carry on horses escapeing strangers putting them in my field as they think they belonge to me injured horses etc as owners mares not even in season. I did confront the owner of the horses and basically got laughed at and told to mind my own.
My concerns are that next year when my stables are complete and horses come home the same thing will happen again. As the paddock is less than 50ft away faceing my stables this is going to cause destress and odvious problems to my horses exspecially my mares.
Does anybody no of anything i can do to stop this from happening. HELP!! Sarah

I would make sure all your paddocks are locked so that no one can put her horses in your fields.I would also put high electric fence along the dividing fence because a stallion may well jump in . Surely she didn't put 3 horses in a quarter of an acre !They must have stood nose to tail.
It is probably her responsibility to keep her horses in but I wouldn't take the risk!

What a nightmare, I would be demented!

Does the woman have a lot of horses or just the 2 mares? If these are all she has you should be safe next year at least as the mares will be in foal (or dead). Also she may lose interest in breeding after these with a bit of luck.

I can't see how you can stop her putting them in the paddock unless they are a danger to the general public. Also she obviously doesn't give a sh1t about her animals or what anyone thinks so I doubt that you will get anywhere trying to convince her that it is going to cause you problems.

If I was you I would bide my time and (through gritted teeth) try to get to know the woman and then in a couple of months offer to rent or buy the little paddock off her.

Its a really horrible thing to happen just when you are getting so close to having your own lovely yard.
