HELP!

I'd really like to know what the diagnossis was and also what the vet told jordan regarding an emergency callout when this was not an emergency. Also although i understand that from brighteyes visit he is doing a good job looking after daphi, there is no doubt in my mind that he should be on a livery yard as he is indeed a novice and does clearly want help so rather than asking on here for awnsers to his problems i think he needs people to see his problems and give him awnsers, he obviously has a pre concived idea what bein on a livery yard will be like and in this case i would say he is totally wrong.

For gods sake no offence but if amymay says you're doing a great job then that says everything because she'd be first to pipe up if you weren't!

And I was the only one up until a bit later that told him to get the vet out. He doesn't have the experience to watch it for a few days to see what happens.

I'm not sure where you think the bitchiness in this thread is. All he's had is get the vet and don't get the vet.

Jordonross there are great great people with masses of knowledge on here to keep in contact with but it's horrible seeing someone so caring and concerned for their horse getting torn apart by individuals on every post

As I said above no denying there's really good supportive lovely people here but I've been on here for years and I'm careful about what I post and others are as will and that isn't for no reason.

As far as I'm concerned a person however novice with the willingness to learn and to ask for advice from people with more experience are worth their weight in gold and shouldn't be criticised so quickly or it could put people like jordanross off posting altogether.

He's not at a livery no but his horse is healthy, she isn't beaten or starved..her every need is seen to and he's getting and asking for help/Steep learning curve but he's learning.

How many liveries or owners have you known who just won't take advice or help when their horse is suffering? How many posts have there been complaining about that type of thing? It's dreadful to watch and happens to often and with some people no amount of advice or help from a livery makes any difference. Those owners do not come on here for advice which is the difference between them and jordanross.

Anyway..nothing I say will change anything, I'm venting..like I said it's not nice seeing someone who is obviously doing his best get bashed down and criticised by some (SOME) posters inbetween the good advice.

I'll say again. I don't think there is anything bitchy or negative here. I don't take kindly to being accused of bashing someone down or criticising them.

I was just giving my honest - and in this case caring opinion. I am someone who has had to go through a steep learning curve when it comes to horse ownership and understand what Jordan is going through. It is an immense responsibility and a bit of support and help can make a huge difference.

As far as I can see the only person doing the bashing and criticising on this thread is you.

No one on this thread is criticising JR or bitching. all on here are saying call the vet or dont call the vet..

Personally I would have called the vet first thing in the morning as I do not have a great experience of lameness.

Jordan, I am concerned that your level of knowledge of basic horse care is far too low to adequately care for your mare.

If you were a fifteen year old girl who had posted the above, I am sure you would find people on here a lot less tolerant and helpful.

Please find your horse some proper help, or sell her to someone who does know how to care for her.
I do not doubt that you have the best of intentions, but sometimes this just isn't enough.

I am not sure if bandaids will stop her legs falling off! It would depend on how wide they were.

Stop taking the piss.

Rubbish. You ring an emergency vet and they ring back. They discuss if it is an emergency. Your horse has no obvious external injury and therefore the vet will not be coming tonight. A horse being a bit lame going down hill will not get an emergency vet out!

Yes because vets have a life too! They dont come out on emergency callouts for non-emergencies. It has nothing to do with costs. Of course they will come out for emergencies such as colic but for lameness going downhill...Get a life.

The above is the sort of thing I'm on about.. everyone else has been great, not denying that for a second.

I think the person concerned was very concerned at people saying just leave her in for a few days and it will be ok, and the saying of band aids did sound troll like

Which TBH is the worst advice in the circumstances, my lad is just recovering from a slight lameness issue which turned out to be a tweeked ligament and I am glad I phoned the vet and didnt listen to advice.

vets initial advice was to leave him out for a couple of days and call again after the two days he was still lame (only when ridden).

If it was possible for JR to move to a good yard with a helpful knowledgeable YO for 6 months he would learn so much however as that is not an option I thought a BHS or NVQ course would be fab.

I would love to do an NVQ but just dont have the time

Same here! I looked at college courses, there was one that was just one weekday day per week part time but can't because of work

Mind you if I get made redundant I certainly could then I suppose lol

I don't think that is nasty at all. It's the truth. It is better to be told the truth that have people being all nicey nicey - it really doesn't help - even if it gives you a warm feeling inside.
