HELP!!!!!!!!

hi im 13 to and ive been riding for four years now :) i know these people may sound mean but i have only about a month ago competed in my first cross country on my pony i have had for two years :) i have been jumping him up to 3ft showjumps but i would never dream of doing this on a crosscountry course its totally diffrent :) i only did a two foot course and i felt happy with this :) i have also rode rearers and hunt horses for diffrent people but just because i can ride them it doesnt mean i cant jump jumps any better .i would maybe do a showjumping comp or even arena xc they have that a lot in my area all knock down but look real and most have some kind of water its the same just not in a big open space in which your pony may tank off. sorry if this sounds mean but i suppose you did ask for advice and thats all your getting :)

haaa its not realy coming together :L
how many horses have you apparently got
your married with kids yet your the daughter ?
obviously fake dont waste people's time when they are giving their opinion and taking their time to help

I would actually go and bake you your own chocolate brownies right now, cheeseandhorses. Good on you and you sound very considerate and switched on indeed. I hope you and your pony did well last month.

Stick to riding your bike love eh???

sorry and all that but im afraid that OP sounds like a bit of a bs'er to me....riding 4 months, backed three horses and ridden a rearer? fallen off loads of times-not something to be proud of love, right so lets get down to the thread itself, your 13 riding 4 months and being sent round an xc course, no responsible adult in their right mind would let you do that on a pony you cant control, and if you are telling the truth then wait until you have had more experience, and like the other girl said(sorry cant remember your name) try a few minimus clear rounds or something, so you can get a bit more used to the pony if youve only had him/her 2 months, dont overwhelm yourself, youve got many years ahaed of you, take it slow :)

I have never heard of that, but you won't win rossets by rushing into comps, you need more practice, in fact if you rush your pony you'll find you wont be winning anything at all, just a lot of wasted journies

PMSL :D:D OK own up who are you really. I recognise that spelling and talk from last year I think it was.

Thank you for keeping me amused tonight for a short while:D:D:p

Oh god, please don't do this just for the chance of winning rosettes. They're not the be all and end all. I've seen plenty of inexperienced riders bomb round courses and, of course, get the desired rosette/medal/cup, but the riders I've always admired and respected are those who put their horse before the chance of some sort of glory. My dad always used to say 'slowly slowly catch your monkey'. I'm not sure of the exact meaning but I always believed it to mean that if you want to do well at something you have to accept that it's going to take some time to do it right, and until then you should bide your time. 4 months is far too soon to be competing at all as far as I'm concerned, and I am quite frankly appalled that your mother is letting you.

Ditto this^^:D

One day OP, you will get it, and realise that while winning rosettes and competitions and jumping big fences may well be what you do with your horse, the point of riding is not to do that, but to know what it is for you and your horses to be a team and to trust one another through anything life throws at you. And at that point it won't matter what anyone else thinks, because you will have the best thing in the whole world.

Just try not to kill yourself or your pony while you're working that one out, hey?

Starzaan-just read your story and the first thought was how lucky I was.
I did an XC course on a fiesty 12.2 some 20+years ago. I was young, foolish, full of self confidence and like my peers thought I was indestructable. A group of us went and buoyed up on everyones success and the atmosphere the adrenalin kicked in and off we went.
One broken arm, broken ankle, several broken ribs and a tear to liver later I realised that I was not ready. The only 'good' news to come out of it was that although badly hurt pony would recover and have a full life with no permanent damage. Hindsight-a beautiful thing!
I have never gone XC since and really, really would love to!
I ride on my nerves now and one day I will own a horse again that I am not deep down just a bit scared off like all the ones I've had in the past.
So OP-if this is genuine please hold back. there is plenty of time.

no seriously though, the other day me and my friend went pony trekking up mount everest on two three year old ex racers AND weve only been riding a week! we had a lovely canter by the peak;):p

First of all for an Alley to be two hours long! Was it the channel tunnel

Anyway, I have not read through whole post. But I take it the jumps are small. Not that it make smuch difference. But I feel you should wait until you gain more confidence. It's not quitting it's using your head! What if you fall and break your back! Even the most experienced riders are at risk of injury but you seem unaware of the risks. If you are going to go ahead, surely your YO can help with the pony? bit advice? If I were you I would trot round and hope for the best. Good luck :D
