Help!!

Need your help/advice!

Blade keeps scrathing and itching himself, all over! I have no idea what it could be, but I need to stop it, he's making himself go bald! Any ideas on what it could be?

Also, yesterday, I tried tacking him up, but he kept kicking when I put his girth on, He was really misbeheaving. Finally got the saddle on him, and le him outside to get on. Asked my dad to hold him whilst I got on, mounted him, and the next thing I know Blade's up in the air, and Im sturggling to stay on, after about the 3rd rear I fell off because I smacked my head on the stable roof, and other than being a bit bruised i'm okay.

Someone on the yard went and lunged blade for me, and i got on him and had a walk and a trot, and he was back to the usual sane Blade again.

Not sure if the itching and kicking and rearing are linked, but I need to find a cause, and then a solution.


Any advice/ tips?

Have you checked him for lice? They can be hard to spot initially but look round his bald patches for any straw coloured small eggs, or lice themselves, all the warm weather we've had lately may have triggered them to start hatching.

Or possibly rainscald? When his hair falls out are little patches of skin coming off with it?

If you can't find a cause woulod definately be worth getting the vet out. His behaviour sounds like it is linked to the itching so defiantely need to get to the bottom of it.

Is he rugged ? Sometimes although they feel warm and toasty to the touch, they're actually too warm and can get itchy, come out in lumps (mine do) or get bald patches.
Has he been clipped recently ? Could be itchy from that, rubbing down with a hot wrung out flannel, maybe with some Witch hazel added can sooth the itching.
Rearing might be connected with the discomfort but could be freshness due to reduced turnout ? less riding because of weather and same amount of feed ?

Just guesses really as I don't know any of the circumstances, more info would be helpful.
