Helped with pulled tails

Hi everyone trying to get my mare ready for competitions and her tail has not been done since I got her (Two years ago) I am going to do a bit of showing and want to have the tailed pulled look as I think she would look quite smart. I have pulled little bits from the sides but I think she is going to need quite a bit off, would it be better to use a tail rake or something like it to thin it out first then pull the rest. She doesnt object too much to it as long as I dont do it for too long.

Any help or advice much appreciated

Take it gradually after exercise and she is still warm. Take from underneath a little at a time. You may have to work on it over a week or two, depending on how thick it is.

Thanks for that I have been taking a little bit out at a time but its real thick.

Ditto that. If your horse does not object to pulling, I would avoid things like rakes.
