Moan Moan Grump Grump - some people in the village my horse is kept in have been "helpfully" putting extra haylage in the horses field and if they carry on the horses will run out before the next batch arrives!!!!!!

All the horses in her field are very healthy and need no more than the two lots they are getting put in by us. However, the field is snow bound so they really need the regular doses we put in or they'll have empty tummies as they can't graze on anything else while the snow is down.

Making up signs etc and can't really do more or could cause a riot but GRRRRRRR I'm so cross!

Sorry to vent on you peeps

No the field is quite far from the yard so the bale sits outside - under tarpaulin. We've put it at the other gate (further down the track away from the village) but apparently someone did it again this morning. Just feeling a bit GRR generally...

Bring on the BIG melt pleeeeeeeeease

Have you tried putting on the note that it will run out before your next delivery and leave the horses without? If they are trying to be kind to the horses that might work better than just a "dont feed the horses" type note.

this is something I have been really worried about since putting our big bales just outside the field but on the public footpath area. Fortunately it hasnt happened yet but I can understand how cross you must be. Lets hope your notes work and they leave alone in future

Yes.... going to put a notice up tommorrow with explanation of why it's not good for the horses in the long run. It doesn't help that they are a load of fat sneaky cobs that stand staring at bales and look very sad.

Visited my sister over Christmas and was amazed to see her horses wander about the field in between hay deliveries. You could tell from the tracks in the snow. Of course that is the diff btween a WB/TB cross and a wily cob!!!
