Hemcore..how many bales?

How many bags of hemcore would I need to start a 12 x 12 box from scratch with banks? Also does it have to be deep littered of can the wet bit be removed daily??

I'm thinking I might switch very wet gelding to this as Hemcore and rubbish shavings are all yard is prepared to buy in

We use 5 or 6 to start the bed then add 1/2 bag a week and deep litter .I take out patch of wet about once a fortnight from different areas.Occassionally Ill add whole bag to top up banks .I find it fluffs up so well that every time I think I need extra moving it around creates a good soft bed again.
