I'm looking for a 3.5ton box. I have seen an add from hemingways horseboxes. Does anyone have any experience with them. Are the boxes well made, safe etc. The floor is composit, which is made of plastic. I haven't heard of this before and again any experiences

Aluminium can rot. I would prefer composite as long as it's the right type, I would want to see the engineering specifation for it.
 
@alex_mac30 The appropraite composite floor is better than aluminium. I checked Theault, theirs are composite too, I would look at STX and Oakley to see what they are made of too. I looked on Dodgy Hprsebox Builders FB page and absolutely no mention of Hemingways which is a good thing. If its the box on their Facebook page it looks fab! Everything I would look for in a box

Both composite and aluminium have good and bad points. If the composite is thick enough, has been protected underneath from road debris, water etc and hasn't been degraded by horse urine it is very strong and long lasting. Our first trailer (Bockmann) had this type of floor and is still going strong over 20 years later. If aluminium has been bolted to the lorry frame/chassis directly, without insulation at the joins then water and urine can initiate galvanic rust, as you have two different metals touching each other. So, you need to check how it has been constructed.
Some good advice here.
