Henbury BE is cancelled

Bloody hell!

Had just planned a huge road trip from Scotland to Henbury only to find out it is cancelled this year and for every other year. RIP Henbury!!!! Bummer!

Nope, seemingly they lost too much money last year with the wet weather and having to re-seed the lorry park etc. And they have pulled the plug for good.

How awful, i always wanted to do my first Novice there. Gutted

that's a huge shame, it was a really lovely event.
i think BE should get insurance to cover damage done by lorries etc to parklands, if they don't already. i know it's going to cost us all more, but it is so unfair for landowners to have to foot the bill for tens of thousands (i know this figure is correct, from another event) if it is v wet and the lorries make a godawful mess getting dragged in and out.

such a shame, i loved Henbury, and it was great of the landowners to let us have fun there.

It got given the boot quite a while ago. I think after last year with it being so wet the landowners had just had enough. The dressage takes place on the polo field and if this is messed up it takes alot of money (thousands like kerilli said) and time for it to recover therefore making it unusable for other events.
A shame indeed, quite a big and tough but nice event, even though I didnt have the best of times there!
