Henley-in-Arden sales...

I may be dreaming, I reckon I saw some plans for housing in that area on the Internet?
Are these old redundant plans, I hope so, or something for the future?
Those that are able to go tomorrow, let us have a report please!

They were going to shut it down a few years back, but it was still there june last year (last time I went).

There is a new ish housing estate next door to it....

I hope you were dreaming though!

The Market is on borrowed time. Housing applications and other developments have gone in for the site and locals etc are negotiating on what is exactly going to be there. Currently 40 odd houses and a supermarket would you believe!

Really nitromouse?! I think it will take away from the town to be honest.
It's a really lovely historic town, and the market adds to that imo.

Not pleased to hear that, but is happening everywhere. Near where I live some paddock land has just been bought for development. Protests signs everywhere. No one really seems to want the houses there....

We won't have any non-national trust etc land left at this rate....

So I wasnt dreaming, and did see some plans on the web, albeit probably not current plans.
Agreed ,the site has been under pressure for years, another rural facility lost.
There was or is a thriving market during the week too.
NIMBY comes to mind.

Yep - it will take away a blot on the landscape! How you think a market like Henley, with its half-starved, miserable horses shoved into pens without feed or water, and then dragged (and whacked) into a TINY ring with buyers far too close can ADD to the town!!

I haven't been for a few years, but reports I've heard suggest it hasn't improved -rather the opposite!
