Does anyone own/ride in one ?

I've got a long hip to knee measurement so wondering if it would suit my gangly legs ?

either the Gordon
http://henriderivel.com/popup_ingles/popup-gordon_i.htm

or the 'York'
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Henri-de-Rivel...id=p3286.c0.m14

Thanks

Are they that bad ?
I've heard that they aren't the comfiest and that the seats are rock hard but then compared to my wintec she's had since she was broken its couldn't be that bad ?

I would steer clear of HDR saddles personally, there are nicer saddles out there.

I am confused by this - what's the reason behind your comment?

I have a HDR saddle and its not significantly different to my AMO pessoa IMHO. I would say its an unfashionable brand, but you can pick one up second hand very cheaply!

People seem very brand concious these days, although would be fair to say that the changeable gullet versions do hold their value on eBay.

I LOVE my HDR, it is fabulous! I have used it on horses who have tried to get me off, and it kept me well in the plate. I am long in legs etc so it has been fab for that (but I am now too big for it.)
Love it, cheap and brilliant..

Bought daughter one for new horse 3 yrs ago so maybe old type. She wasn't keen on it at firs (but that could have been cos new)t but likes it now.Saddle still looks like new despite my daughter not exactly the cleaning tack type.
Only thing I found were on small size.A med 33" JW saddle fitted horse but had to get wide HDR.
I made sure I could return saddle if did not fit which is just as well as I said med did not so had to return and get large.New ones may different now

All i can see is black leather anyway ( must really put my glasses on

We had one to try on a yard with alot of horses. At first site, everything was good as it was cheap, wool flocked and ok quality. However, on regular use, the leather looked like sh!t, it didnt fit anything particularly well (tight through the shoulders) and just wasnt particularly pleasant!! However, saying that, I have seen a second hand one at a tack shop which was lovely, hence my comment over the older ones being nicer. The one we had was one of the batch that was being sold through Shires for a while, dont know if that makes a difference?! Certainly not comparable to a pessoa, and wouldnt have stood upto hard work.

This is an interesting thread as I have a HDR dressage saddle and love it. I've had it about 5 years and with lots of use it still looks good as new. I find it really comfy but I know others don't as the twist is quite narrow despite it being a wide tree. I always wondered whether I'd get on with the XC version.
