Hi all,

I came across a few of these on ebay last night and thought they seemed quite reasonably priced. Is there a reason for this?! Just wondering if anyone had any opinions/reviews of them? What's their fit like?

I currently have an Ideal International Event but was looking to get something more forward cut for jumping and then a separate dressage saddle.

Not sure how much I'd get for my Ideal though- it's a couple years old, lightly used due to my mare being injured so often (

) and is the "Ranch" colour- bright tan! Really comfy and if I had all the money in the world, I'd love an Ideal jumping saddle, but they seem very hard to come across second hand.

Thanks!

i bought a black even saddle from ebay - its nice leather. im pleased with it

i do use a sheepskin pad under it tho as its quite hard on their backs IMO. i also had my saddler fit it for me too (he suggested the sheepskin pad).

Dont like them. We got a cheapy one when Shires used to stock them, and the fit is tight across the shoulders and the leather was crap. However, came across an old one a few weeks ago which was lovely, so dont know whether the one I was using was just a rareity!!

It's quite tempting... although I'm supposed to be saving up for a trailer at the moment, so need to wait and see how much cash I have to spend once I get my paws on that!

Is it foam flocked? I think I saw that somewhere when I was googling them. What did your saddle fitter think of it? Is it comfy?

(Sorry for the grilling!

Thanks KatB. I noticed that some were online listed as "Shires Henri de Rivel". There is a couple on the Decathlon website "Avantage" which are only £300, maybe they have a budget line and that's what you saw? Or maybe, like you say, just a bad batch.

Cheers!

Hi, I used to have the 'event' model and loved it i had the 16.5" seat as it came closer to a 17". I hunted in it an it had a few tough times but IMO it stood the tests, leather was good and i found it very comfy. Was also true to fit and the only reason i got rid of it was i got a new horse with a very straight topline and it curves ever so slightly banana shaped so rocked on her back. I also got mine off ebay for a great price brand new through a company but was then supplied by shires. Would recommend them, but have a new prestige and wouldnt turn back!

Oooh, thanks Fleur. I'm quite keen on the look of the Pigmalion as a jumping saddle. To be honest, my mare is 16 and so not got the straightest back.

I'm trying not to be impulsive though so will bear this all in mind and see what I can get at the end of the summer.
