We were walking along a footpath, and came round a corner, and there were about 15 of the stupid things mooching along the side of the adjacent field

He was doing such a good heel until that point

Thanks goodness the dratted things could fly so no pheasant dinner for anyone, but Henry vanished through the hedge after one of the stupid things into someone's garden

I hope no one saw him

And what annoys me is that all hell would break loose if one of my innocent ickle greyhounds caught one, but the wretched things are only going to be shot anyway

I hate pheasants with a passion, and I would agree that they are the most stupid bird ever invented

But then if you are just going to be shot, who needs a brain

I would cheerfully shoot them! It's the way they lurk in hedges, waiting for you to trundle past on a green horse that hasn't been hacked in ages (bl00dy stupid owners, perils of being a sharer), then leap out at you clattering like I don't know what - if they just kept quiet we'd never have seen them! I ended up on a horse with a hedge phobia!

LOL!! Popple loves finding pheasants!!

I think she was quite surprised today when the hare *didn't* start flying!

Big Hen would probably have got over it if I had been allowed to stay

But at the point I got chucked off he was tense every time we went past a hedge.

He now does sweet FA and hangs around his field all day eating (and being fed hard feed - and he's a cob!) until he looks fit to explode. Such a bl00dy waste of a lovely horse - one that won't make old bones at this rate either, laminitis or something equally nasty will get him eventually I have no doubt

They are the most stupid thing alive. They loiter around on the farm lane and look at you as tho to say 'I'm invincible, I'm not moving' so I put the foot down and run em over lol. I've got 5 so far. Monty once flushed some out of the grass and managed to catch one and killed it. He's also managed to catch and kill a pigeon (2nd most annoying bird after pheasants)

Just think of it that Henry was doing a very good job at dogging in

All the Gamekeeper at this time of year should be going round two or three times a day dogging in - ie, sending in the dogs to drive back the birds to their pens or feeding stations.

Clever Henry

Ah ha - will be getting Henry a Sweep-style halo yet!

I think these may have been escapees, have never seen them around there before and actually when I **ahem** tackled him eventually, I noticed the hedge had chicken wire all the way along it so maybe there was a hole?

Yep, sooo dumb, almost as dumb as hares

We have a shoot around the corner every year, my two start to get it into their heads that they are in fact gundogs. B often also believes that he can fly

Leads on for the next few months!!!!
