We had such a bad prep last week when he was going so badly that I was tempted to withdraw.
I have been busy with Spider's two outings, then Rhiannon went out so poor Henry was last on my list.
So not his fault that he wasn't feeling good to ride. He's 16 now and I need to keep him supple or he stiffens up which I guess is not suprising.
I also arranged a 'back lady'visit for them all, although two days before the show isn't great timing.
Poor Henry was very locked in his poll which I was relieved to hear as at least there was a reason for his twisting and curling. Poor boy, why didn't I listen to him earlier?
Anyway, after his treatment he had the two days off and we went to Wix hoping that he'd feel better but going straight into a competition was asking a big question.
Well, as he often does, dear H was a star. He felt better than ever, much more up and out in front of me, even without the whip!
He won the Advanced Medium and was third in the PSG. We were only one mark off second but stupid rider had a senior moment and rode both her 8m circles as 10m and worse than that, as I was riding them I was thinking to myself 'these feel good, no loss of balance, accurate, right onto X'
Silly old fool!
We wouldn't have beaten the winner though. He rode beautifully, a Dutch guy that is Michel Assouline's head rider.
Never mind, we have enough sheets to do another one. Henry had an extra banana last night!
