My 20 year old has just been diagnosed with hepatitis c, the biopsy showed it is either viral or due to a toxin. As he was seriously ill the beginning of the year with no real diagnosis of cause ( we suspect acorn poisoning) that is being used as the reason . On a plus note there are sign of liver regeneration. He is also suspected of having cushings which is being tested for this week. Can anyone shed any light on hep c? Anything I can find is all pretty technical. Also I'm told he will need 60! Steroid tablets a day as treatment , any advice on how on earth I'm going to get them into him?

Intresting, hepatitis c is a virus and can be checked by testing for antibodies and if positive a PCR test to determine viral load. If viral then this needs to be cleared to prevent further liver damage. HCV also effects humans. If caused by toxins then that is different. The liver is good at regenerating once the cause of damage is dealt with.
60 tablets! Can crush, mix with water and syringe in bit like a wormer if wont eat them in food

60, your very lucky! mine was one 120 per day! Luckily I just threw them in his feed and he ate them.

Good luck!

The vet suggested golden syrup for the tablets, he had his first dose last night and ate them but did manage to bite into a couple so fingers crossed that hasn't made him wary lol
