My sisters' dog is spoilt rotten and this as you can tell by my general tone is why i think her dog wont eat. She treats it like a child which is very sweet because the jack russel is exceptionally cute! She is eleven, and not normally a fussy eater. Anyway, I think it is not eating the normal dogfood because my sister gives it roast chicken or fish or something human if after a couple of days she still wont eat the dogfood.
It has been 4 days now and she has had human food for four days after refusing dogfood.
Am I right? What should we do, my sister is going on holiday on Saturday and I am in charge!!!

Ask your sister to provide you with plenty of what she has been eating

no point stopping feeding her it now....the food she is feeding is not exactly doing her any harm, if she did want to get her onto to dog food then the answer wold be easy, don't offer her anything but dog food and pick it up after 10 mins on the floor then offer it to her again the next night for the same amount of time...she will eat when hungry

she won't starve herself, dogs can go along time without food

I know a dog that only eats M&S Chicken. Heaven forbid you try and feed it a Tescos one!

Personally, if my dogs haven't eaten what I offer them within half an hour, the bowl is taken away tough cookie. Then it isn't put out again til the next evening (mine are fed once a day) they soon learnt o eat what they've been given

(although they are all good eaters anyway)

I'm with CALA. My MIL's dog gets nothing but human food, until it comes to stay with us. It has two choices - eat the dog food within ten minutes, or go hungry for 12 hours.

It's fat so it generally goes hungry!

you should only leave a dogs food down for 15mins max and then take it away if they don't eat it, and don't give them anything till the next time its feeding time. Its stops them getting fussy, your sister has to remember its not a human being and needs to treat her like a dog.
If this is not normal behavior then I would take her to the vet, but she may also sense that your sister is going on holiday, dogs can sense change and if your sister is excited her dog may sense this and it has put her off her food, especially as she is fussy anyway
