Sorry for the delay in the report but Lifes been abit manic lately
On Tue 26th July I spent nearly a whole day bathing Herbie and getting him ready for our first big show. He stayed in on Tue night for the first time in god knows how long. He was in on his own and wasn't bothered at all
.
On Wed 27th July we got up at 5am did what we had to do and loaded herbie ready to leave at 6.30. Herbs loaded like a star and tucked into his haylidge quite happily. We arrived at the showground and ended up having to pay for the children to get in as they were bording and searching all the horseboxes to check for passangers
We parked up, I checked Herbs who was still happily eating, then we went for a wonder to find my ring.
We went back to the lorry and I started to get Herbs and myself ready. Suddenly I heard them anounce my class over the tannoy so I hurried getting ready, Unloaded Herbs and headed to the ring only to find the class before was still going on and there had been no need to hurry
. The collecting ring was full of ponies lots of which were stallions
I managed to find a quiet corner to stand Herbs in, inbetween a car and some jumps. We patently waited for our class. Herbs was being amazing. He was being so calm even though he was surounded be stallions, The loud speaker was going off and there was pony club jumping in the ring behind us. He couldn't see the jumping but he could hear all the cheering and aplause. He seemed to think it was for him. Everytime it started he stood so proud.
Eventualy it was our turn to go in. Our class was huge, 38 new forest geldings
. They desided to split the class. Even numbers were to be judged first, the judge would pick the top 6, then the same would be done for the odd numbers. Typicly I was an odd number
So we left the ring again and stood in our quiet corner and waited for our turn. It was another 45 mins till we went in
The odd numbers entered the ring and we walked half a curcit of the arena, Did our trot out vertualy two at a time then got pulled in. The judge pulled about 8 in then said the rest in any order. She rushed through the indervidual judging and hardly even looked at Herbie
I didn't expect to do well realy he was the smallest in the class by miles but I did expect to be judged fairly and not just rushed through the class
Neadless to say we were not in the top 6. The rest of us were asked to leave the arena. Herbie refused to go. He stood there asif to say wheres my rosette and when are we doing the lap of honer
I explained to one of the stuards that this was the first show Herbs had been to where he haddn't won a rosette and he didn't feel the class had finished as it had been so quick
The steward appologised I think they were all embaressed at how the class had gone.
Then Herbs refused to leave the collecting ring
He stood there refusing to move. Everyone was admiring him though and saying how lovely he looked. I think if there was an audeance vote Herbs would have won

I eventualy perswaded him to leave the collecting ring and we headed back to the lorry. I was so proud of how Herbie had behaved he had taken it all in his stride and haddn't been fazed by anything
I realy didn't care that we didn't get placed I don't think there was a single person there who was more proud than I was.
Little did I know Herbs was about to let me down.
He refused to go in the lorry
We spent over 20 mins trying to coax him in. I tried so very hard not to loose my temper. He had loaded perfectly in the morning  After a while a big bloke came over and asked if Herbs kicked. I said he did so could he please be careful. The bloke got my OH to link arms with him then they went behind Herbs and lifted him onto the lorry  . Herbs was so shocked he went straight in
Everyone cheered as Herbs went into the lorry
But I was happy he was in atlast.
Herbs spent the rest of the day happily munching on some haylidge while we looked round the show.
Here are the videos and pics my OH took during the class.
