After alot of stress re transport (Long story) We were picked up by my friend at 7.30am. Herbs was abit unshore about going into her trailer (He's not been in a trailer for ages) but after alittle encouragement he went in
and off we set.
As usual we arrived in plenty of time for our class (I'm always so paranoid about missing it
We waited for the class before mine to be called. It seemed to be taking forever so I sent my OH to check on the ring. When he got back he said they were doing the youngstock championship which was right before my class. So I pulled Herbs off the trailer brushed him off and headed for the ring. We got there just as they were finishing the championship.
"Good timing I thought" But I was wrong. They let everyone leave the ring then realised they still had afew awards to give out so they had to find everyone again and get them back into the ring
Herbs was realy good while waiting. There were some very naughty ponies around. One swang round and bashed into us and when I told the owner to watch out as Herbs may kick she told me to watch out and keep Herbs out the way
Eventualy they sorted the championship out and it was our turn to go into the ring. Once again we were the shortest in the ring
. Herbs walked round like a star. Some of the other ponies where playing around and being naughty but Herbs just took it all in his stride.
He trotted nicely (and I almost managed to run straight
) and stood patiently in the line up. (while others fidgeted)
He was even good when the ridden M&Ms in the next ring were cantering right passed us.
I was abit upset by the judge when we did our indervidual bit as he looked down his nose at Herbs abit and looked at him realy quickly whereas he took his time looking at the upto hight foresters
.
In the end we were pulled in 8th place and were the highest place not upto hight pony. I was so proud of Herbie. He had behaved so well, prob the best behaved in there although manners seem to matter for nothing in showing anymore
. He did hesitate when we went to leave the arena and I thought we would have a repeat of the new forest were he refused to leave the arena
But this time he walked out as good as gold
Then we went back to the trailer. I gave my friend and her daughter our wristbands and said they could have a look round while we loaded Herbie. Asusual he refused to load
We tried for about 10mins then I got the OH to get the lungeline out. Herbs must know what these are for because as soon as he saw them he wouldn't go anywere near the ramp
. Eventualy I got him near the ramp and my OH walked behind him and Herbs reluctantly walked into the trailer. Then it was just a case of waiting for my boss to get back and we could leave.
It was a shame the OH and I couldn't look round the show as we had pland a lovely day out. But such is life and atleast I got to take Herbs.
He's such a cleaver little man and now I'm more excited about taking him out ridden. (If I can find some transport
)
Here's the videos and pics from the show.
