Herbie. Maybe he's not so horrid after all.

Today is a very tough day for me. I just wanted to sit indoors and cry but then the farrior turned up to trim two other ponies and said he had time to do herbie. I went out to the field and called Herbie. He came over to me and let me catch him :eek: Then he was as good as gold for the farrior. I had his shoes taken off as he has good feet now (they where a mess when i got him so i had front shoes put on) and the farrior said he should be fine without them now. :D He was stood there looking so cute I was going to put him streight out but i desided to give him a groom. He was so sweet. He didn't try to bite or kick me :eek: infact he started nuzzeling my neck then the next thing I knew he was licking my face :eek: :eek: I forgot myself for a moment and said "stop it Lucy" :( :( Herbie stopped and looked at me for a moment but then he started licking me again. I started laughing, it was as if he was telling me it was all going to be ok :o. I finished grooming him and desided I would try to teach him a trick. I have started to teach him to bow. He was so good and he picked up what i was asking him realy quickly. We need lots more practice but i had lots of fun and even had a small smile on a very difficult day. I put him back out and we had a little cuddle over the gate.
He'll never be Lucy or take her place but he seems to be trying so hard for me now all of a sudden. It's as if he knows what is going on in my life at the mo.
 
Awww that's cute! Pleased to read things are looking more positive.

He'll never be Lucy, but he's still your Herbie and now you can lavish all your attention on him and do just as good a job :)
 
Aww, what a nice post Laura - it's amazing how they know when we are upset isn't it and react accordingly? He's trying to pay you back for all the time and effort you have put into him.

Of course he will never be Lucy, but he is clearly trying to help you get over the worst feelings about losing her.

Looking forward to seeing some video of him when he has perfected his tricks :o)

Ommadawn I videod it all today. Even the whole licking me thing. It's so sweet but sadly my lead for the camera is at my OHs so can't put them on the computer yet. :( :(
 
Thankyou _MizElz_ i used to feel guilty for buying Herbie but today i am so glad i did. He is giving me a reason to carry on. Lucy would never forgive me if i gave up on him.

Thankyou thelwell_girl he is special in his own funny little way.
