Herbie has been unwell for a while now (did post in NL recently. Not so much unwell, but not himself, and lacking condition) so has been seen by a specialist.
He has infection, and it is still running through his body (like gastro ent. like we get) and has damaged liver/kidney - but he is going to be ok. (ingested via bad water from the field, the specialist said it smelt like human faeces

in his stable) He is on stable rest, no grass, and milk thistle and other stuff. Bleached and scrubbed the stable (and Magic's even though it isn't transferable) and squirt it around daily)
He has picked up and looking better already and will be himself again in a couple of weeks or so.
Anyway..... he has a new fleecy to keep him snug and warm to aid his recovery.

The nice man in the shop gave me a fiver off, as the fleece I wanted he didn't have in his size and this one was a wee bit more expensive

Nice man, thankyou!

Aw Jane I missed your post. Poor Herbie

. I hope he comes well soon and, ill or not, he does look quite dashing in his new rug.

Poor Herbie, you've had a tough time recently JJ.

Glad you know whats wrong with him though and that the outlook is bright. I look forward to seeing some Happy Herbie pictures in a couple of weeks

Thank you

TBH, I only posted a while back but didn't really say much, I don't want to be continually moaning or asking people to wish us well, just getting on with it with support from friends and family (and pm's from people here).
With the correct food stuff, a warm stable and no sweet grass (sorry herbie!) he will come right.
He looks loads better than he did, he is brighter, telling off the other horses and he is still keen to ride out.

Hi Not being funny but why was he kept in the same field with the same bad water from the field that the last one died from? There is obviously contamination in the stream? as they can't be drinking from troughs with clean water in, hope he pulls through but he doesn't look well at all :O(

he wasn't kept in the same field KM, he was moved the same day as my other one, if you recall the post. (Which I'm sure you do as you seem to know a lot) That field has now been shut. He is actually not as poor as he looks, he just doesn't do the lively springing round act when out of the stable, he is a laid back chump.
