Herbie update.

Well herbie has had three weeks off. 1 due to the fact that he would not cross the river and it was to deep for me to cross to get him, the next week because i was to buisy with work and didn't have time and last week due to the rubbish weather and Lucy being so ill :(.
Anyway today i thought sod it i'm gonna take him out. The weather is still rubbish but this is getting rediculous he's just sitting in the field doing nothing. :mad: Last time i rode him he was VERY HORRID and i had to get off him several times so today i was ready for an epic battle.
He came across the river and i caught him and tacked him up without to much trouble. Yoyo was going mentle in the field as she was now on her own so i led Herbie up the road till we were passed the end of the field. He didn't even think about napping he marched up the road and i actualy had a job to stop him so i could get on :p as soon as i was sat in the saddle he was off up the road. He marched all the way to the next village past all the places he usaly naps. The only thing he did was when we where overtaken by a horse trailer and he realised there was a horse inside, He whinnied :rolleyes:. Today we had a lovely nap free hack :D :D :D I'm so proud of him, he actualy had lots of excuses to be naughty today but he was so good. Lets hope it continus but it does go to show i was right and there was a nice pony in there somewhere :p ;) :D :D Thanks for reading this pointless post, I'm just so proud of him :D :D :D :D :D
 
YAY the horrid one isnt so horrid anymore hehe.

I know that feeling well , took robbie out on his own again today and apart from an episode with some sheep all was well ,was so proud of the little guy :)

Ginger_Nut Today he wasn't so horrid but maybe that was the sgock of being ridden :p :D :D Well done with robbie hopefuly when the weather improves we'll both have many hours of happy hacking to do. (many hours on the move that is LOL :D)
 
Thanks aimeejay. He had loads and loads of treats when we got back. If only i could explain to him why. He'll prob be goos everyday LOL.
 
Thanks HollyWoozle He will be a happy hacker one day. I always said he would weather he liked it or not :D :D :D. I hope he continus to the last 6 mounths will have been all worth it then :p :D :D :D
 
Thats great news. I'm sure you're over the worst of it with him now and he'll turn out to be a very happy hacker.
 
yey well done. Glad things are looking up with Herbie. You will go from strength to strength now.
Maybe a little time off did him good and made him realise how much he enjoys his good rides out! Mine is always really eager to please if he hasn't been ridden for a bit! I think he misses it.
 
Thanks absolute diva even when he is Horrid now he is nowhere near as bad as he used to be. He'll get there in the end he just needed someone to give him a chance poor love. :o

noblesteed thankyou. I think he did miss it as he has been stood at the gate afew times over the last 3 weeks bless him. I did say to my OH on the phone that maybe Herbie needs to be ridden once every three weeks then he'll be good every ride LOL. I hope he behaves when ridden daily i don't want to only ride once ever three weeks realy :p :D :D
 
Not a pointless post at all Laura, it must be lovely to ride him without too much trouble - especially after th rotten week you had last week.

Glad Herbie is being a good boy. Sounds like things are on the up for you. You certainly deserve some good luck after all the worry with Lucy.

Just a random thought, is he better after some time off or when he;s had lots of work? Just that I had a pony who was lovely until he was fit or had lots of work, then he was horrid! He used to buck and nap at the same time, and run at you in the field with his ears back and teeth bared! You'd give him a few days off and he'd be lovely again.
