I have a continually bloated horse and am looking for a supplement for digestive health that contains herbs. I have tried protexin on its own, healthy tummy charcoal and global herbs fennel. Willing to give anything a go really! Any suggestions?

What are you putting in the top end?

In terms of herbs, slippery elm, meadowsweet and chamomile are very good. Best place to get them is panacea herbs. For the meadowsweet and chamomile I use the tinctures. tablespoon slippery elm in 50ml water, add 5 ml each of the tinctures, it makes a gravy like consistency, syringe in.

Linseed meal provides mucilage and bulk to the diet, it makes a slippery solution that soothes the mucosal lining of the gut and helps passage of food.

Avoid any cereals, stick to the simplest feeds.

Fennel is good too at relaxing the gut, best way to buy that is in bulk seeds for an Indian grocer - just put the seeds in his feed, a couple tablespoons.
