My Tb has a problem with recurrent abcess's (he is being treated by vet seen him today) but was wondering if there is anything you can feed to help him fight infection (we have tried antibiotics)

Have you poulticed the sole? Can you draw the puss out of the original wound? What does the Farrier and Vet say?

I (well, my mare) had one of these dreadful abscesses and it took three months to get rid of, but it has gone, so don't give up.

You could try Global Herbs stuff, or Equinatural mixes. Increasing zinc and copper intake helps. Also squeezing a 1000iu vitamin e capsule into feed helps. As does dropping molasses from the diet.

Hi. You could try feeding Echinaccea to help strengthen the immune system. I had a horse with an abcesses on his jaw that took 8 weeks to clear. In the end started feeding Echinaccea and Aloe vera juice and everything cleared up within a week. Now this could just have been a coincidence that it happened so quickly, but its worth a try..? Generally, while there is still dirt or poison in an abscess it won't clear up. It might be worth having a swab taken as some bacteria is resistant to the antibiotics, so no point wasting your money on it.
Good luck. Its awful when you feel that you're doing everything you can and nothing helps.
