I've read a lot about feeding Oily herbs (oregano, thyme and rosemary mainly) I just wondered what the benefits are to this that people have noticed......and if there any cons.....ie horse becoming fizzy etc. Interested to know people's experiences ☺️

This is the longest thread on the subject.
If you put "oily herbs" into search bar and tick title only it'll bring up all the other threads.
I've fed them for well over a year now and honestly haven't noticed a jot of difference in any of our 3. I feed rosemary, thyme and oregano. I've recently added mint.
They also get Brewers Yeast and Milk Thistle separately. Again I can't spot a single difference. One horse gets regular blood tests so I'll see if the additional of Milk Thistle has helped the liver markers (they aren't bad, just slightly raised and not related to his illness/reason for blood tests).
So many now. I want as many varieties of plants going interest them as possible.
Started with marigold and clivers for cpl - all 3 horses
Oily herbs for 2 last winter when they had fws, not sure it did much but I kept them on it
Little cob gets herbs that are supposed to manage lami risk and inflammation, she ballooned after a course of steroids and I am so worried about lami. Can't remember them all but includes meadow sweet, milk thistle, nettle, white willow.
She also has gynostemma which is an Indian herb I think, it has some promising research in lami prevention.
Yep lots of threads. I suspect if your horse has a varied diet it may not make a difference but oily herbs certainly did for mine....he puts on weight and maintains (always been an issue for him) and had a positive impact on sarcoids . Tried marigolds and cleavers and he lost weight so took those out.
