With the weather being so wet, like many people, I have kept the ponies off the ground and restricted turnout. My problem is my companion pony has bad diahrea. It seems she can only keep well on grass. She is laminitic and cushings. She can't stay out permanently as I bring my boy in at night over winter. Tried to leave her out and had a riot on my hand from both of them. She eats very little hay/haylage. Hard feed goes straight through. Last year she was on codeine all winter which stopped the diahrea, but didn't help with her weight, which is poor. I've tried ready grass and she won't eat it.
I'm seriously thinking of getting a companion for my companion and leaving them out, and dealing with my boys seperation issues. I only have a two acre paddock so could be difficult. Any ideas of any other feed, for hay/haylage replacement that she might actually eat. Her teeth are done every six months and though not brilliant aren't that bad either.
Any ideas anyone?

we have an oldie who has no teeth and he's on a diet of soaked grass nuts.
this might be worth looking into as a grass replacement? our equine vet told us to feed it ad lib so he is left with 2 bucket's full during the night.

Kao, will give the grass nuts a try.

Isha, she will not eat much of hi fi senior, have tried them all, hi fi that is.

Cracklinrose, She does have a feed balancer in the winter, I have also tried speedy beet as not much sugar, goes straight through.

Thank you for your suggestions, I have struggled with her for three years now. Not much I haven't tried.
