...keeps telling me all about what they did with this particular livery in their lesson. Livery is a mate of mine but I don't know her trainer from Adam. However, trainer keeps coming over to my stable while I'm tacking up / grooming / mucking-out and telling me what she had my friend doing in her lesson. If I'm honest, this trainer comes across as a bit patronising, insinuating that my friend is quite novicey and trainer is so great. I try to ignore this as best I can and my friend is aware that it's going on but just shrugs it off (I think because she doesn't want to offend the trainer who has actually helped her quite a bit). Tricky situation.

The funniest was when I came into the school as she was finishing off and trainer started trying to give me a lesson, starting with telling me to drop my stirrups down 2 holes!!

Why are all the weirdo's on my yard???

Sounds like she is trying to recruit you as a pupil! Very off-putting! I don't think instructors should offer advice unless specifically asked for it. You are there to ride your horse and if you want a lesson then you can very well ask for one, but otherwise she should mind her own business!

As a freelance instructor myself who has worked on many livery yards. I find this behaviour terrible. I certainly think she is trying to recuit you - had a similar thing happen to myself years ago. Was competing at a particular venue and the owner was a dressage instructor (quite well respected in the area) and she kept trying to convince me to have lessons with her. In the end I decided it was quite a compliment as she obviously thought I was good enough to be taught by her (never had a lesson with her though out of principle!!) As you said tricky situation for both you and your friend.

One of the other girls on our yard told me the other day that said trainer also grabbed her pony's nose. This girl had forgotten to shut the stable door (don't ask) and pony had taken two small steps out of the stable and then stood quietly watching what was going on. Girl was walking back towards stable to nudge pony back in and shut the door but before she got there, trainer had lunged towards pony, grabbed its nose and was trying to force it back into the stable. Poor pony is a bit head shy so was shaking head in the air and looking terribly upset.
Girl was furious, as I'm sure you can imagine!

I am thinking this trainer's time on our yard is limited...
