Hi,

I enquired about a lovely cob which seems to really fit the bill for me. The seller straight away informed me that he has recently been vetted and the vet found a very small hernia. Vet said it is cosmetic as no guts involved. I will obviously get a vet myself to have a look, just wondering if anyone else has come across before? He is 4 years old and still growing.

Very honest seller, it was the first thing she told me. She also sent a picture but I can barely see it because its so small.

My loan horse has one as a result of colic surgery. His is pretty damn big but causes no problems and not ever expected to. I would go for it but price should be reflected accordingly.

Thank you for your reply. I had never heard of it in an adult horse. I want to show but I don't think a judge would ever spot it, took me a few minutes to find it in a close up picture. I have yet to try him so will get a vet to take a look if all goes well.

Would love to hear if anyone else has experience?

BTW - The server went down hence the multiple posts on refreshing the page, silly me. I have asked for them to be removed so they don't take over the page. Sorry everyone!

One of mine had a tiny one like Michens it was also following colic surgery, it caused him no problems, he showed successfully at agricultural show level, which was his limit nothing to do with the hernia which was never noticed, he also hunted and did all RC activities, if the horse fitted the bill, passed the vetting then it would not put me off buying at the right price.

Mine has one following colic surgery ten months ago. It is large but improving as she builds up her exercise. I couldnt show her it damages her too much

Thank you, I don't think a judge would notice this one either.

This one has not had any colic surgery. Your vet can obviously be sure that yours won't cause any problems, I wonder how they know this?
