My horse had a small umbilical hernia when I got her. In march she had colic surgery and there is still a lump now. However the hernia that she had before surgery seems to be 2/3 times the size this morning (was golf ballish size) so any ideas whether they're linked and how serious this could be? I spoke to the vets that operated on her but my local vets (I am home for the holidays) can't get anyone out until friday! A vet is going to ring me back and talk about it! Is it posisibly just a swelling from flies?
Ahh!! Just seems to be 1 thing after another!

We had a filly with an umbilical hernia and the vets advice was to have it operated on asap so we did with no problems, is there a reason why it hasn't been operated on? The fact that it is bigger is strange, i can't imagine that this could be from the flies. Let us know how you get on with the vet x

I had my 7 month old foal operated on. hers was pretty big and at one point it did strangulate. She is now fine and all is well without the worry of any further problems.
