got some time off this summer and would like to get out and about. Where can I go and hack with free/reasonable parking? Hertfordshire/Essex - looked at Pashanger Park but where can I park? Apparently boxes can’t be in the car park?

There is nowhere to park a box at Panshanger unfortunately, but they do occasionally open it for park and rides so it's worth enquiring with the park management if there are any planned. They are supposed to be building a new carpark, but don't seem to be including horse box parking there either unfortunately! You could possibly (as far as I know no restrictions on this) park a lorry at the Cole Green Way entrance by Hertford Football Club (on a non-match day!) and hack to the park from there, though it would be a good 45 minute ride, unless you were prepared to cross a busy roundabout on the A414!

It's £5 for a day pass to ride at Epping Forest and you could spend a whole day exploring there! Gaddesden Estate near Hemel is amazing and you can buy an annual pass, or they do regular fun rides (there is one this weekend I think). I've heard you can park at Waterford Heath car park too and access the bridleways from there. We used to do a fantastic park and ride from Quinbury Farm in Braughing via the BHS, but I can't seem to find it on the website anymore. It is worth contacting Dawn Grocock for advice on bridleways and places to park in Herts: dawn.grocock@hertscc.gov.uk
