And I only wish I'd done it ages ago!

And yes he is fat, but hes on a permanent diet and hes now being exercised with the hunt horses 4 times a week, so I'm hoping that some of the squidginess turns to muscle now hes finally working for a living.

Hes gone from this:

And this was his reaction when he was turned out:

Hes definitely much, much happier with all that hair gone, so even if it hadnt suited him, it was the right thing to do. But I think it looks so much better than before. Such a shame hes only 14.1hh or I might have been tempted to do some showing after all!

Hes 14.1hh maybe very slightly bigger, but not much! My OH in the pics is 6ft3, I'm 5ft5/6 ish. I lost half an inch when I broke my back, so somewhere between the 2!

Oh my gosh those eyes! And he's got such a delicate face under all that fuzz. I'm so tempted to give mine the buzzcut but everyone around here would be horrified as they think it's cruel.

He has such a lovely face, and you can see it now. I feel a bit guilty that I didnt do it sooner. I knew the hair bothered him sometimes, but it didnt seem to be a real problem, just the odd bad hair day. But now its off he is noticeably happier. So far from being cruel in his case :)

Thank you for all the lovely comments. He is my pride and joy and I might be a bit biased, but I think hes stunning now. Before all you saw was hair, now you can see his face etc :)

Yep I think he looks very smart too!

Mine has gone from a very long mane and forelock to a short version this year, together with clipped back legs (front ones not done yet as both clipping and front legs are an "issue" for him and a work in progress). I don't mind hairies either but am in the process of converting and you've just given me an extra reason to!

My YO did it for me. I told her to do a leg first and if he was difficult, abort the mission! They need doing so often, they need to be rock steady or its just an ordeal for eveyone. Hopefully yours will get there :)

When you posted about it I thought noooooo, don't do it!!! In theory I'm not a fan of clipped out cobs (I think it's the pagan leg look as the leg hair grows out spikey). But he looks fantastic! It really suits him, he looks like a really smart little chap without the hair.

I'm ok :) I had a freak accident 3 years ago and managed to smash myself to pieces. And of course it was off a horse, it always is  I had that happen and then I've been really ill with other stuff for the last few years, its why Frankie has never really had any consistent work. I think I'm finally coming out the other side now though, and my lovely boy is now nearly 6 so hopefully this year we can actually crack on a bit and I might manage to ride more than once a month :)
