He's gone... :(

I'm so sorry, that you loved him with all your heart is obvious from your posts. He was a lucky boy to have known you for so many years & even luckier to have you there at the end. Thinking of you both x

so sorry for your loss :( he was a gorgeous boy xx

He was down in the field this morning. Dont know for how long. No will to get up. Vet agreed that nothing more could be done and to PTS as the fact he couldnt use all legs showed a severe lesion/growth/tumour in the neck, nothing more could be done.

So at 11:25 he went. S he was already down, he just gave that tiny sigh and that was it.

He is now resting at the bottom of his fave wee hill at my parents.

I wish I had gone with my instincts and moved him on Tuesday and then PTS later that day. And spared him having to be moved to be buried. He had his own wee accidental procession, with 3 black cars ending up following the tractor...I'm feeling a bit sad now. I helped load him onto the tractor and saw when he was buried and it makes me feel better as I know exactly what's happened to him.

The vet who PTS was amazing......I am going to write him a thank you card as he has the best bedside manner of any vet I have dealt with. Treated my Boy like he was a dude, even after he had gone. Made it all so comfortable and stress free.
I'm still irked that a vet with over 20 years experience......and the main equine vet completely missed the symptoms - which a whole yard full of people said was clearly neurological. But hey, what can I do.

A lot of people are sad today, he really was such a dude......everyone who knew him loved him.

Big Hugs for my Beauzo........Going to miss your voice xxx

Sorry mate. It's the day we all dread and one we never forget. It's lovely you buried him though in time that will be something you'll cherish that you can go sit with him n talk to him. It's **** now but time does heal. Rip fella, hope he goes to find my old boy for a race around that sweet grass 😌xxx

So sorry for the loss of your lovely horse. The same happened to my old mare - I had her for 27 years. Hardest thing I had to do was get her PTS but it was the only thing to do. Remember the good times.

Thanks folks. I am thinking of seeing about getting a tree planted down there. My dad is recaliming the field I think - it was meant to be a garden! not a pony field - so it may be landscaped and I think that a nice tree down there would be nice.

Just need to see what tree would best represent a cob?

Stunning boy :'( lovely that you have him buried at home. If you have the space it needs to be a Horse Chestnut x

An oak tree will represent a cobs strength and ability to stand all weathers. An oak will stand tall for many years which is a nice memory to pass on to your family x
