As ive mentioned on here before, my boy isnt clipped in winter for a variety of reasons.

Now, he doesnt grow much coat, its really fine. After riding earlier, I was giving him a nice groom and something brought a smile to my face...

Hes shedding!

Its obviously only just started but I was so happy! I know its still very much winter, but the nights are drawing out noticeably here (was 3:15 sunsets before chrimble and now at 4:15, its still light).

Anyone elses unclipped started to shed some fluff?

Yes! Although I keep telling my mare to hold onto it as I think she's a bit premature! Might stick a copy of the weather forecast to her door so she knows what's coming!

Its when the winter coats come out though that im always happy i dont clip; his summer coat is always lovely

My girlie's summer and winter coat are very different in colour and she's got a tiny patch of summer coat on her neck that's slowly growing larger. It's the first time she's had a big clip so I'm wondering whether a) this is an isolated piece of skin that believes it to be spring and the rest of her coat will come through normally, b) her summer coat will grow outwards from this patch or c) (horror!) she will develop lots of little patches that will eventually join up

Merlin is losing hairs, and has been for the last couple of weeks!!!!

The strange thing is he usually changes coats within the fortnight (just about) so is starting really early this year!!!!
