totally gutted, vet diagnosed jay as having bone spavins in october last year, decided to give him the winter off and re-assess him in the summer.

had really hoped being turned away would help him but hes still lame on the hinds after 20 or so strides, hes not hopping lame but you can see hes unlevel.

hes not on bute, gets turmeric in his feed which is srn hifi, veteran mix [ spillers conditioning one] and access to a mobility lick when hes in for his feed, wondering about a joint supplement for him if anyone reccommends one?

not looking to get him into full work, i know he will not be jumping again etc, but if i could get him out for walking hacks it would help him as he hates standing doing nothing.

Can you ask your vet about a joint supplement? Also, how does your vet (and you) feel about working him lightly on bute?

vet was reluctant to reccommend one in particular, said word of mouth was the best way to go lol.
i would have no issue working him on bute if i needed too.

we didnt go down the injection route, decided to try time off and 24/7 turnout to start with, hes not got the best hind legs in the world and already has a suspensory problem from before i got him.

My vet recommended the supplement 'Synequin' (think that's how you spell it) for my friend's mare who has spavins and she is sound on it after a few stiff steps first thing. It's expensive but keeps her in work
