I don't compete as a rule but I do take a pony hunting and she put's all the big horses to shame and will jump ANYTHING!! And because she's little she can do all the very trappy places. Much, much better than a horse!!
I competed a 14.2hh up until I was 21. He won loads because he could turn so much quicker than the horses! He got himself quite a reputation! We qualified for lots of low-level senior stuff a few times like BRC Champs at Lincoln (in 3 classes), Trailblazers (3 classes), BHS Open XC Champs etc.
Since then Ive had another two 14.2hh projects who I competed at seniors for a bit.
I'm 17 and I compete a 14.2hh skewbald pony in cob and coloured classes against horses & ponies and even though we've only taken part in a show a handful of times we've always been in the top 3 in front of the horses
Yep, I'm 26 and my pony is 14hh - I compete her at open hunter trials and I hope to BE her next year
She also hunts and will out jump most of the 'hunters' with ease - there is nothing that stops her, plus she is so tough and surefooted that nothing much bothers her either!!
My pony is 13.3 and we do a lot of showing. Next year we are going to try our hooves at jumping if l can beat my nerves. And l am 41 amd here is a picture.
I've got a 14.3hh Welsh D, and compete in BRC D, SJ and XC. Also do BE Pre Novice and are fine round the jumping stuff. Dressage isn't so much our forte. It's taken me a bit of time to get the speed going round the XC as we used to get a few time faults.
She's also won just over £200 in Seniors BSJA.
Not that many years ago a lot of people used to look down their noses at us and a few arses even suggested that it was time I sold my pony and bought myself a proper horse!
Now it seems more acceptable that adults can and should ride ponies.
It's not stopped me doing anything I want. Go for it. Won't post a pic on here as it'll come out supersized, but she's the Chestnut in my sig.
