I'm presuming that you've had vets involved throughout all this? I'd give them a ring, say you don't think it needs a callout yet, but describe what you see to them, and see what they think. They'll know more about the horse in reality whereas we are only speculating...

Id say a couple of stumbly steps when he has been snoozing considering his past history probably arent anything to worry about he's probably just got a bit stiff or his legs have gone to sleep a bit! Providing he then walks out fine and doesnt seem to be struggling in any other way i wouldnt worry however a phonecall to vet or whoever has been involved in his treatment wont hurt and may put your mind at ease!

My oldie had a locking stifle, he was always a bit dodgy soundness-wise due to arthritis... But he was hopping lame on it, literally couldn't walk, holding his leg right up and out in the air, never seen anything like it, I was only 14 at the time, out on a ride by myself, thought he'd broken it and called the vet expecting them to come out and put him down :( Not traumatic in the slightest!! :o He walked it off after about 10 - 20 strides, he didn't seem particularily stressed or in pain, it was just like his leg was stuck in that position. Also would happen if he'd been laying down a long time in the field. He was MUCH worse after he'd been stabled, vet recommended 24 hour turnout. It was also worse when he had less muscle. (had been off work due to various ailments (he's a rescue horse!!) before each episode, so had no muscle)
