If she drives say an 18 tonne horsebox privately then no initial or periodic dcpc required ..... unless she is under age 21 and driving a LGV over 7.5 tonnes in which case she will need the initial dcpc to do so

It will be privately, she is 22.

At some point in the future she wants to drive commercial but that it a few years away.

When she wants to start driving LGVs commercially she will need to pass initial dcpc modules 2 and 4
Passing those two will give her a DQC expiry dated 5 years from the mod 4 pass date
Before the end of the DQC 5 year expiry date 35 hours of periodic dcpc will be needed if she wants to continue driving commercially after the first DQC runs out

Because you had a LGV category on your licence before 10/09/2009 you have aquired/grandfather DCPC rights = that means you have a GHOST DQC valid until 09/09/2014

Fab thank you. I don't have to panic just yet then.
