Been looking and seriously considering doing my HGV training so can drive lorries as part of a job.

I think I understand what i need to do to get my licence, just wondering if anyone has done thier training in the area and can recommend somewhere to go

You can't do your test in Newmarket so you're probably better doing your training where you'd take your test.

Ipswich, Milton Keynes, Peterborough and Norwich all have commercial test centres.

I think that's right anyway :)

Hmmm.... who is that ROG :D

Seriously, check out the HHO LGV HGV INFO link in my signature below

Now then, you said this was for a job so that would make it for commercial LGV driving which means doing the initial driver cpc unless you passed the car test before 1997

Have I got your intentions correct?

Yes had seen that would nned to do the intial driver cpc thing as passed my test oct 2007.

The biggest thing is a recommendation on where to go to get training done. is it alos worth asking some of the racehorse transporters for advice?

Spot on

To the OP =

Ipswich would be the easiest one to get to as it is a straight drive along the A14 dual

GOOGLE lgv training ipswich for providers in that area but remember to VISIT BEFORE PAYING A PENNY

As you are quite away from any test area and the providers that are close to them I would perhaps do a day visiting as many as poss before deciding

A recent recommendation is well worth considering but no good if over 5 years since they did it as many things change in that time

Medical - no more than £55 unless you WANT to get ripped off

Theory tests 1a 1b and 2 can all be done on one visit to the theory test centre

Try and find a school that will do the initial driver cpc practical module 4 test DURING your practical on-road training as that will only cost you the test fee instead of the extra £200+ if you have to do it later as that involves hiring out the truck and instructor again for a 30+ min test
