He's been introduced to having stirrups hanging down by his sides and was remarkably well behaved! He's got the hang of loose schooling, and is enjoying putting the new yard girl through her paces
So top ideas appear to be:
1. Some sort of calendar / photo shoot - godiva type or something just with the horses.
2. Some sort of tack sale - be that on ebay or within our HHO community
3. Collecting a vessel with change in it or collecting all unwanted holiday currency
4. Cashing in on old mobile phones / gold / jewellary etc
Maybe the southern HHO community could do something with winds amazingly kind offer?
I vote for a table top sale in Yorkshire and charge £10 a table, I have shed loads of stuff I don't use and can't be bothered with all that ebay faff and I'm sure there are lots more people like me that would be willing to bring a table.
Everyone can bring buns/cakes and flask and we can all exchange goodies too, you could do a raffle also and some other fun type competions, Bank End Rescue could also win a slave for the day to help out.
I did suggest a sponsored ride ages ago but not sure if anything came of that.
What a about gonig round with a bucket at a local show so people can make donations there?
maybe we could have a few?
A yorksire one, an east anglia one, southern etc etc.
that way we could all meet up, have a gossip, drink tea, buy stuff from each other and raise money for BER?

Sounds like a really good idea, kill all those birds with one stone and raise money
Well I've just had a quick chat with Toni about a virtual dressage comp and she's all for it......
So who's up for it?
Choice of tests, prelim, novice and elem. £5.00 entry fee
Test can be performed in arena, field or where ever you want as long as there is a minimum of markers......
Test videod by someone standing 4 metres back from C, no zoom or telephoto lenses, and no editing!! Transfered to DVD and sent in to be judged......
A good idea for those that are terrified of actually going to a dressage show!!! and a good laugh for everyone!
That sounds great. Can we have a walk and trot test too please!!
Can we put a sticky up with the details and closing dates etc so we all know what we've got to do?

What a great idea!!!
Do this mean I can actually enter lordship in a dressage competition without actually taking him anywhere?, without his eyes on stalks every time a mare comes his way or launching himself at every gelding that comes within 200 yards of him.....and I can actually prove that he is capable of actually doing a nice test providing there is nobody around lol
I will talk to Hovis and Sids Mum and Toni and we can get it all sorted out, then people can PM me for the address to send the DVD's too and we can decide on a closing date..... And we dont have to restrict it just to H&H members, get all your friends involved too!!!!

I was just going to suggest this too... and someone above also mentioned a photo show thingi which does also sound good
If you really want too!!!! A fun dressage class without the horse could also be appearing, judged on style, appearance and athletiscism!!!! and then upload them all to you tube so everyone else can see them!!! ROFL!!!

trouble is, i'm not quite level behind...
better if i have a couple of glasses of wine though...
i'll give it a go..i'll do either prelim 4 or a nice walk/trot..
I want to see you canter matey!!!! Prelim 4 for the human's then!!!! ROFL!!!!
I'm already giggling at the thought!!! Even I'd do it for a laugh!!!
How about Pas De Deux!!!! LOL!!!
In fact I think the humans should do PSG, no problems with leg yield, half pass, walk to canter, pirouttes etc! Only problem would be remember the test!
Unfortunately its gonna have to be 20 x 40!!! LOL.... No you wont need vetting!!!!
Right so far we've got Prelim 4 - for those who wish to make a totaly idiot of themselves and pretend they are the horse and canter around - Horseless dressage!!!
Prelim 7, Novice 25 and Elem 44 and Introductory BD test A!!!!!!
Rana, you can do it on a cow if you want too!!! as long as it has a leg in each corner and is correct in its way of going!!! ROFL!!
I'll get huby to do it wiht fat ol me on his back if you do it dressed as a horse JM07. Plaited mane and tail and of course a nice sprightly walk and trot.
He's not level, wouldn't pass a vetting and probbaly should be pts!!
Ok so ovidius and i are going to talk tonight to sort the dressage.
can i have a willing volunteer to help sort the photo comp?
and a few people to do tack sales?
lol Ovidius, that rules out Murphy then - he definitely isn't correct in his way of going, and nor am I
I'll have a chat with the RS and see if OH and I can use one or two of their horses free of charge, and I'll do the horseless test too (only as long as no one comments on my pony squishing abilities and lack of soundness lol). Might even persuade OH to do it too.
You'll be fine Rana, as long as your as accurate as you can be who cares.... its all for a good cause and I can just see the horseless ones causing hours of endless entertainment!

If we're doing it on foot, does it have to be in a 40x20 arena? Or could I just put markers round my back garden like I did when I was a kid
I'm a bit like JM07 though...not quite level. Do I need to pass a vet??
Seriously though, if we're doing a walk/trot test, could I do it on an RS horse? I'm sure they'd lend me one

20 x 40???
i bloody well hope not..
as for the vetting...i'd best get meself buted up...
I love this idea....OH just reminded of my fabulous dressage moves along the lane home after a night in the local........I was scoring at least 8's right through and my piaffe was spectacular
Ah yes turn out!!! Smart please!!!! if no jacket, or stock a shirt and tie will be ok!!! as long as smartly turned out, plaited or unplaited!!!
I'm actually off in a min to record two tests for a Virtual Dressage Competition on another forum and then send my entries off, for that one its the full gear tho!!!
Might have a practise at P4 whilst I'm all dressed up!!!!
QR - what about an online raffle? It's done for fund raising on another forum I use quite often and always has loads of gifts being donated and tickets being bought, it does take a lot of organising tho.
Works like this ...
Someone agrees to organise ....
Organiser ask forum members to donate any new or nearly new unwanted items.
Donator sends to organiser at their own expense (it's for BER remember!)
Organiser then advertises the raffle with prizes as and when they come in (with pics!)
Organiser would then set up something on paypal for purchase of raffle tickets and keeps a spreadsheet of raffle numbers and who's bought what tickets and emails purchasers with details.
Raffle is held and then organiser sends out all prizes to the people that have bought tickets and won (hmmmm .... maybe we need to keep this raffle for UK members or the postage will get quite heavy?)
On the other forum it's always great when the raffle is being drawn, lots of excited people waiting to find out if they've won!
Maybe HHO could donate a couple of years free subscriptions of prizes or the organiser could get hold of some of the horsey companies to donate prizes in the choice of the winners size, etc?
Usually the raffles work very well just after christmas with unwanted christmas pressies etc but i'm sure there are loads of people which would have new stuff lying around that they don't want. It could be non-horsey items (probably would be better as prizes then a brand new 5foot cooler for someone that hasn't got a pony / horse that is 5 foot!).
