Here is the situation.
Old lady is on box rest for laminitis and is having her new x rays on Wednesday. She's coping well and seems to be better on her feet thanks to the danilon again. Damn flare up :(
Anyway she's not great with the horse next door and a wooden stable has come up outside in two weeks. However I wanna know opinions on which would the best way to move her and the bedding with limited movement for her. She's got rubber matting down but if worse comes to worse I could leave that and put it down when she's better.
Thoughts? Ideas?
The outside stable will be really helpful towards her recovery, she can see whole yard and no others can impose on her space which is one thing she really hates.

Edited to say before this flare up she was walking out and being turned out in sand pen for few hours, just we've been set back abit!

She could be a lot better in two weeks? Reverse a trailer to the door and move her that way? She could stand in the trailer while you move the matting. No good if she won't load obviously.

Aye, she doesn't load well haha. I'm really hoping she will be abit better in two weeks. I'm just preparing for if she's not and token me, stressing!
Current stable is in American barn. Best case scenario is if her neighbour is out in the field for the day. She can use his stable which is also deep bedded. But don't wanna get hopes up for that

Well I'd just make sure this was possible. Speak to the person who has that stable and ask if they would mind. No point worrying about it for two weeks!

I could have thought of that..I'm such a dope. Hahah :o. It was just on my mind and I was late night worrying.
I think I'll go to bed now haha

Thanks for waking my brain up! :)

As well as checking about using the stable, why not give your farrier a ring and ask him/her if there is anything that you can do to ease the journey from one stable to another?

Put her in the next door stable while you move bedding & mats. If she's uncomfortable on concrete (which I'm guessing walk to new stable will be on) empty a few barrow loads of dirty straw out so its cushioned. You could also pad her soles with cotton wool & duct tape so they are cushioned slightly.

She's slightly short on one of her legs but not overly uncomfortable on the concrete when walked out last week. I just wanna make the move as easy for her as possible. She'll be so much more relaxed in a bigger stable! It's a horse sized one:eek:. Would that cotton wool work with heartbar shoes?

I'm not sure how well it would work with shoes, on the advice of the farrier we did it for a short spell with an unshod pony. (cushings induced attack, however got very stiff staying in a box). Wore them for the short walk between stable & lami paddock.

Thanks, ill defiantly ask him on Wednesday. Can't believe that my lady hasn't gone very stiff. Maybe scowling at unsuspecting neighbours help?

Lol, he was arthritic, so it was a case of balancing the need for a deep bed, versus the need for movement once he was over initial attack.

I would tape nappies to her feet before asking her to walk from one stable to the other and borrow another stable to move everything over from one to the other the nappies will cushion her feet without pressure points because of the gel in them they are very cheap if you use own brand new born ones
