I was just wondering, do you think us HHO lot are similar to the general horsey population, or are we more swayed towards people who hunt, event, etc. etc....

Initially I would have thought there would be more hunting people on here, although there seems to be a good mix!

What do you guys think??

Well there's a huge mix of people on here including anti-hunt people so i would say we reflect the whole horsey world or even broaden it as i would for say never usual talk to someone who say.... point to points as i have never been to a point to point in my life!

i think we all do different things on here and reflect the general horsey word

As a newish member I think there are probably more competition/hunting people, but not exclusively. There is a good mixture (one or two nutcases).
I really enjoy reading the eventing reports.

The posts are so deep tonight!!!!!!

I think it generally reflects the nicer side rather than the bitchy side of the horsey world. I think what is special is that there are really experienced people and people who have never owned a horse and all (well most) are made to feel welcome and valued

I have to say i LOVE this forum- ive been registered on a few for a while but only recently really started remaining on this one and i cannot begin to compare it!

I think you're all great!!

yeah loads of different equine enthusiasts <cant spell, on here, i do sj and xc and have never been hunting or point to point < would like to. and we cant forget the showing side to the equine world. xxx

Not many driving folks! But there isn't many in real life either, but i think we are underrepresented here!

I think there is a wonderful mix of people on here. I would think this site gives the most balanced view on horsemanship and highlights the differences in all our husbandry practices.

There is a wide range of types of people on here and I think it is healthy to have intelligent people alongside dopes as we all learn something from someone....even if it is only to find out what we should NOT be doing. Any mistaken information given out on here is generally very quickly put right by more experienced horse folks, so I don't think there are too many dangers on here compared to some other forums with less knowledgeable members.

That's my take on it anyway.

Yes I would say you are proportionately represented - as in real life.

Same with me and western riding.

i'll happily step up as 1 of those dopes tia

do think where lots of women mix, there will always be b1tches and this place is 1 of them. thankfully there aren't many, and really i can't think off the top of my head who those people are. just seen the odd post gone mad.
have to agree with fatarse2 (i should be fatarse1 hehe) the great mix of people and personalities is what makes this forum a very interesting place to hang out in. and even the soap opera days make for some very interesting reading IMO

Yes there is a good mix of people on here from those who have a wealth of experience in many areas to those that are well sourced in more specialised areas. There are also many newbies to horses as well and I think anyone new to horse ownership or even riding should be made to feel welcome both in the real world and forums like this.
Sharing information and experiences between each other is a good way to learn imo.
This forum had also been a good sounding off board for some people and way to let off steam too.
I always think that issues are best discussed and any pent up frustration let out and by holding feelings in, it can in some cases make you feel bad.
Having said that though, everyone is capable of off days and not necessarily always thinking straight.

I think a fair proportion of the horse community is represented on here but I do agree with two previous posts in that western riding and driving is not that well represented on here.
Also there are not that many racing people either, which is a shame.

You are right about the Western and Driving not featuring much but I don't know about the rest of the Country but western riding and driving doesn't feature much around here either.

My point being (get on with it, hahahahahaa) that the forum is a pretty true reflection of the British horsey world.

I love it.

We are missing racing peeps and Point to point people. They do feature a lot in our lives. Do they have their own excellent forums I wonder?

i'm from the racing and point to point world albeit a few years ago, the ex racer forum i hang on (the excellent forum mentioned

) has members that hang here too. vicijp, lulu and georgiew being 3 that i know of, tho the latter 2 might have a different user name on here, bit like me. so we are about, just we tend to spend more time in a more specialised forum. guess thats where all the driving and western peeps must be too.

I think there is a good mix of people even some oldies like me which is a relief. I first started looking at the forum looking for some advise when Murph had a virus. Have now become totally hooked. Was quite surprised to find how many serious competitors came on here - how do you find the time?! Generally people are very helpful tho some posts get a bit heated don't they. I'm quite jealous of the number of you who seem to know each other "in real life" too.
