Would anyone be interested in taking part in a HHO Performance competion? You would score points for getting placed in the competions you enter, let me know how you did and I would produce a table and see how we all do against each other.

For example in Show Jumping you would score 6 points for coming first, 5 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th and 1 for 6th. In addition you would get a bonus point for jumping clear in the first round and 2 points for a double clear. So if you came 1st for a DC you would get 8 points. It doesn't matter what height the class was so that everyone is competing on a level playing field.

For Dressage and Eventing you would get the same points for 1st to 6th but I need suggestions for the bonus points.

If there are other sports you would want included let me know, and let me have a suggested point system.

It would be for horse and rider combinations so if you have more than one horse you would appear twice or more in the rankings.

Once a month you'd PM your results to me and I'll work out the points table.

Anyone interested?

Me - I will stay on 0 tho

I would do it - should there not be different points system for different levels? Or all the same? i.e 1st in unaff minimus = 6 points and so does 1st in a discovery = 6points?

Sounds like a grt idea

That's actually a good idea! Although I have two broken horses so nothing to compete and can't join in!
I suppose for dressage you could give out a bonus point for getting, say over 60%, and two for getting over 65%? And eventing it could be a bonus point for a clear XC or SJ, and two for a double clear?
As long as no-one gets overly competitive

I'd say yes.. but not fair.. as it's sooooo much easier to win say BSJA than it is BE..
would have to work out a different points system!!

I SO do not agree with that - especially if you compete at places such as Addington where there can be 60 in your class!

Yes that would be fun to have the points the same regardless of the level, makes it fair then. But agree we should have a different thing for each discipline maybe?

I think it should be the same points for all levels. That would mean that if you have just started competing or have a baby horse you have the ame chance of winning as someone who is going intermediate. Makes it more open to everyone

As a rule though it is - sometimes there can be hardly any. BE there is always around 40 in each class, whether is be 38 or 45 its always the same amount really

So how come i've been eventing for 8yrs and am yet to to come 1st in anything.. yet nearly every time i go BSJA i win.. including a Fox against the local big boys...

Maybe you should give up eventing?

Hm sounds interesting. Not sure abot a couple of things though....

I mean, im not sure about being able to compaire each discipline with eachother. Also, surely some people compete more than others, so - someone competing every week is likely to get more points.

The other thing is some of us simply aren't winning!! haha.... what i mean is, people riding to progress. For example, i'm just startin out jumping NC and doubt i will be winning or getting placed any time soon, because its all totally new to me - and im pushing myself. But there are others that jump regularly at the same class an win or get placed alot because they do it over and over....

Just thoughts really, sounds like it could be fun though....

Thats why there are bonus points so that if you went clear in the first round but not placed you would still get a point.

Obviously the same combination can score points in more than one discipline.

A lot of breed socities and RCs have these performance competitions and it works for them.

And of course unaffiliated counts

I did forget showing....

Seriously though. Think it's a great idea but would make the following observations:

- Keep the disciplines separate as they are all very different0 BSJA'ers and BD'ers will tend to compete much more frequently than BE'ers.

- Average out peoples results so that those who only compete once a month or so are not disadvantaged compared to those who go out every week.

- To encourage the production of horses, emphasis should be on jumping clear rounds rather than going against the clock for a placing. Similar to the Dutch points system.

Can we perhaps get Admin to set aside some webspace to post the tables on a regular basis ?

I think its a great idea - I've just done my first British Novice a few weeks ago and am all set for the next one this weekend so it's an ideal time for me and help me chart our progress. I also do dressage though and think it would be easier to keep all the disciplines seperate - so a different league for BD, BSJA and BE.

Also think people should be alowed to enter a few charts of need be - as I know I would want to go into the BE and BSJA.

And other people would like to be BE and BD now that the BE season is almost over

A very interesting idea!!! I like it but I can only see one flaw, it won't give a very balance view as some people do alot more shows than others, hence could potentially get alot more points, so someone who does alot of shows could potentially win over someone who has only done a few shows but to alot better standard and I would definitely get last place over all of you because I don;t actually compete anymore so I will definitely be bottom

Sounds a fab idea, i would love to join in- my only problem is i am now progressing to newcomers so i dont have a cat in hells chance of doing any good
