HHO Performance Competition - Interested?

How about if it was run from 1st November to 29th Feb to start with. And then 1st March to 31st October. That would then mean if it worked out Eventing would start in the next time period and would run for the whole of it.

It would be limited to your 10 best placings per discipline. So 2.5 per month. Most people enter 2 classes per show.

Seperate tables for each discipline. And then there could also be an allrounder one. Would you also want it split Senior/Junior?

If anyone is a member of another club that already does this and wants to share how they work out the points that would be great!

*BTW I don't compete either as my horse is broke

I think you need a bit of a handicap - you'd have won it easy!

i think its a deally good idea Diesel and will be really interesting.
perhaps you can have a prize for person with the least points so no one will feel left out......

I do this for breed societies and you only submit your results at the end of a time period so either you only submit your best results and strike through the rest or the organisers work out which are your best for you - but that isn't so much fun as checking out your progress so maybe work on averages? One society I do it for count your best results (i.e. per class) another count your best events (with a maximum no of classes per comp). Also because its a breed thing all types of comp are put together but the points are weighted so for example eventing gets loads more points than showing, however, for this I think a separate table for each discipline would be best.

Also: Keep it clean people!

MissDeMeena, that is so true about eventing! i can remember talking to Vere Phillipps years ago after he'd started eventing... he said that before he started, he coudn't understand how anyone could possibly be chuffed with coming 8th at a 1day, or 15th at a 3day, or whatever... at SJ, it was a win, or not worth mentioning! then he started eventing and realised why we're often so chuffed just to get a rosette!
btw i've been eventing for *cough* years and i've only ever won 3 events. lots of placings i'm far prouder of, tbh.

DD this is a great fun idea

Count me in... but I do a bit of everything and am out two or three weekends a month doing dressage and SJ unaffiliated and on tickets- from spring it's be xc and showing too- don't know how that would work but I'm up for it

umm, tbh i really like the fact that it's not competitive on here, that we enjoy reading about everyone else's good days and commiserate with their difficult days, without direct competition against each other.
but that's probably because i'm old enough to have had most of the competitiveness trained out of me!

Fab fun idea DD!
Great as one horse is mended and being fittened up again and I have a ride on a pony atm with our first HT next week (eek sat on him once so far)

sounds like a good idea!
Am about to register BSJA in the next few weeks (when tansport on the road)! And get my other out to some unaff dressage through the winter
I'd like to join in please!

I think it would be good fun aslong as it doesnt get competitive which hopefully it wouldn't..

I'd better go and get my horse fixed then

I think that saying you've had competetivness trained out of you is a bit sad!! I think that its good to be competetive as long as you are disciplined enough to take the good and the bad and not let it effect your horse in a negative way!

I think it will be a laugh to have some friendly rivalry on here!!

Great idea DD but I think youve got a full time job here!!

Second Attempt at the Rules

The competition will run from 1st November until 29th of February, and if successful from 1st March to 31st October. Each month a league table will be produced. It is open to the combination of 1 member and 1 horse. If you have more than 1 horse you can enter more than once. If you own a horse which is not ridden by you (for example it could be ridden by your daughter) these will also count as a combination. A horse can also be ridden by more than 1 member but will count as a different combination.

It will be split into different disciplines, and also an allrounder category. The combinations best ten places in each discipline over the first period will count towards points.

If you wish to be included in the monthly tables please let me have your results by the 7th day of the next month - for example for November please get them to me by 7th December. You can join the competition at any time and submit results for the entire period. There will be a honesty system in place.

Is there any other disciplines you would like added? Are you happy with the rules?

Can I just point out that hopefully it won't get super competitive - just friendly rivalry, especially as there aren't any prizes really. I could manage a couple of sets of rosettes but that would be it. So if you are in it for the prize and not the glory you might be disappointed.
