What have you learnt from HHO?

I now take my saddle, numnah and girth apart after riding

it had never occurred to me to do anything else!

I wear more hi-viz.

I have learnt to stop worrying about my ponio being too cold etc... some very down to earth people on here

I have learnt that photobucket is very useful indeed

Actually I've learnt a little bit about conformation from people comments etc.... and i do mean A LITTLE... im no expert :P

To edit any photos very carefully (cropping wire, yellow flowers, halters, curb bits and small children etc) before posting to avoid my responses offending people.

I too, feed soaked oats because of HHO, haven't changed back yet.

That you can't please all the people all of the time, but generally, if you have a problem someone has been there, done that, got the tee shirt blah, blah, blah and that experiences and opinions are very useful in making a decision.

Also, that you lot aren't a bad bunch all in all.

I read a post which asked when people wear their hats and why. When I thought about it I couldn't really explain why I wore it riding but not handling, especially as I often get into trouble handling, so I changed my ways!

Two weeks later the youngster reared up and hit me over the head breaking the hat, but I was fine!!!!!!!!!

I have learnt that no matter how sensible you think you've been, someone will always have an opinion to the contrary

Other than that, I've learnt lots - soaked oats diet thanks to Slinky, loads of vet advice thanks to the Dizzy one and Mrs M, oh, and that no matter how sh!t your day has been, there are always plenty of words of advice going spare to make you feel better

A brilliant and effective mud fever cure

That there are lots of nice peeps on here

For gods sake never say anything about your livery yard, cos there is always someone from the yard reading who will put their own unique interpretation on what you have written and use it to cause trouble for you

Now, I already did the soaked oat diet when I really burst onto an unsuspecting HHO

I've learned that I am not alone, there is always someone to offer advice or just a kind word.

- that you need a C thing on your licence to drive a horse lorry over 3.5tonnes (amazing, considering i'm married to a policeman)

-how to use a forum (never been on one before)

-how to use photobucket (and crop anything liable to cause a fight eg haynet!)

-that all HHOs are beautiful (or at least the ones that have put their photos on the thread in photogallery)

-that everyone here hates parelli

-that wintecs are shaped like a banana

-what a fat horse looks like

-woodpellet bedding

-that cats don't kill chickens

i also stumbled across someone who knows Raff very well, which i love! she can tell me all about him.

1. I am not cruel for refusing to rug my horse. No it doesn't need a full neck heavyweight rug with a fleece underneath when I am walking about in just a tee shirt.

2. I am not cruel for muzzling my overweight native.

3. I am not cruel for leaving my overweight, unrugged native out in the rain.

HHO saved my horses life. Every person around me was telling me to PTS, but a PM from a HHO member gave me an alternative. Turned out to be the right decision.

HHO gave me hope when I had none and comfort when that hope was gone...

Its also taught me SO much about different peoples ways and means with horses and to count my blessings and hug my horse!!!

T xx

I thought we established there was one she liked?

I dislike (not on this forum, but another where I've years of experience of the topic) people totally inexperienced giving completely the wrong advice based soley on their own irrelevant personal experience rather than relating to the poster, advice that could cost others a lot of money. Really winds me up - so I don't go there any more. Here I usually don't know the answer so I don't comment (so maybe I'm one that doesn't reply?)
