Just read through the whole of the 'BOGOF... wwyd' thread and am so speechless at GG and Jemima*Askin's generosity that although I really want to reply to the thread I can't even work out what on earth to say other than 'wow'.

It made me think about how many times on here I have seen people make kind offers, whether it's offering transport, or posting headcollars out to people who need them, to taking ponies temporarily. There are really kind-hearted (and funny!) people on here, and many who I've thought "I wish I knew them in person. I'd love him/her as a friend". So, I thought it would be lovely to see more wonderful things that HHOers have done for each other - so if anyone's willing to share stories of when someone on here has helped them out, please post! :)
 
I found someone on here who turned out to live a couple of miles away, she came here most weekends over last winter to walk my pony out and groom him. It was a great help
 
I was stuck in a rut with my mare as I didn't know what I was doing, posted a few threads asking dumb questions and the lovely Wheels PM'd me and we organised a couple of lessons. Dropped my stirrups a couple of holes, sorted out my hands/head, changed bits and got her back done and had a different horse! Unfortunately a couple of things happened in my life and I wasn't sure which way was what so I fell out of contact with her however if she is reading this I still remember what you said!! Now have a lovely forward going horse who works in an outline 80% of the time (if she isn't on one:D) Ps hope your hands were okay after Juno decided to reverse at high speed, promise she had never done that before and hasn't done it since!
 
After finding my mare - newly diagnosed with Cushings with sky high levels - reacted badly to prascend (colicked within 1 hour of taking half a tablet) I posted on here asking for help, Mrs B suggested C-plus, I tried it as a last resort and it worked! My mares levels were back within normal range within 1 month and I am truely thankful for her advice x
 
Loads of people, back when I was a new horse owner and came on here in desperation. :(

I was made incredibly welcome, and sent numerous encouraging PM's. Mike007's stands out in my memory, but there were others. People messaged to ask where I lived and offer practical help, though sadly none of them were in Lancashire.

Above all, the wonderful (and much-missed on here) Rhino, who not only gave me heaps of advice, but asked for my address so that she could send a helpful book in the post. :)
 
many people on here offered me support and comfort when my lurcher ruptured her cruciate and has a set back after surgery, cbmcts offered help above and beyond what I would have thought a complete stranger would offer and that was an amazing thing to do.
 
Kezzabell2 - my old mare was about to be sent to auction after her owner was struggling to find her a home. She had already been passed around so many times that the thought of her going to auction filled me with dread. Luckily, kezzabell2 showed my old mare to her friend who then went on to purchase her and I believe they are doing extremely well together which I am so pleased about. So big thank you to you (Kerrie) and Tally-lah for giving Annie a good home :)

I've had loads of help from folk - ignoring advice (and I've had excellent advice from many folk on here) Jesstickle put me in touch with a fabulous instructor, and dafthoss has spent hours in my field riding, putting up jumps, photoing, holding for vets and god knows what else. Lady La La gave me a rug the other week, and rhino sent me a science book and checked out a saddle I was buying from up her way too. Probably loads of other folk too... I can't always pay people back, so to speak, for their kindness, so I try to pay it forward a bit instead.
 
I feel rather bad about this because I can't remember the name of the person I want to thank. I posted a couple of years ago about my pony who was struggling to eat at the time, and somebody told me to ask the vet about jaw problems. This isn't something the vet had ever mentioned, or that I had ever thought of but as soon as I read that reply something just clicked and suddenly all our problems seemed to make sense - I spoke to the vet the next day and had a diagnosis of TMD. At the time I didn't take enough notice of who made that suggestion, nor did I ever properly thank them but without their advice I don't know how long it would have taken us to get to the bottom of our problems, and I am eternally grateful to whoever it was that took the time to write that reply.

Some lovely soul offered me rugs when my old ponies rug got stolen a few years back.

As well as some lovely offers of cobby riding when I lost my big lad.
 
Stand out for me has to be AML. She doesn't post a lot, and I hadn't come across her - until she quietly offered to collect Spike from Liphook for me after his big horrible colic earlier this year. She didn't make a big song and dance out of it on the forum - just pm'd me, came over from deepest darkest Hampshire to pick him up, drove him home to Berkshire, refused to take a penny for fuel, and then off she went. It was a massively stressful time for me, and I was exhausted after a week of hourly checks through the night - her kindness was hugely appreciated.

All the BF brigade, especially Cptrayes, when I was taking my old TB BF, I felt it was right for him, but watching him struggle often made me doubt myself, a wealth of knowledge and experience was on offer, for which I will be eternally grateful, having a happy old boy now.
Another angel loaned me her beloved only pony, when my lad was seriously depressed after losing his field mate during a colic attack, her little mare walked into my barn and put my lad firmly in his place, giving him a reason to live, for two weeks, he hadn't eaten and refused to leave the barn.
So many people to thank for advice given over the years, so little time, but all appreciated

That is an amazing thing to do, just amazing :)

Um...Ester, who drove to my house to bring me a copy of a barefoot book as I was turning Fly away, she had some fresh cupcakes and chatted to my SIL not long after she had been diagnosed and it was great to see Rach so comfortable in front of someone to take her wig off. I now consider Ester to be a proper friend.
PolarSkye and Mrs. B have been rocks for me over the past year, but notably, through having Fly PTS and especially being absolutely immovable in their friendship through the difficulties with my aunt. They have been absolute towers of strength and I don't think I'd have coped half as well without them.

Hardly a day goes by that we don't speak save holidays and funerals and I don't want that to ever change.

Ibblebibble is an absolute star and I think that if this was a place without a U rating, you'd all know the side of her that I am so grateful to know. On numerous occasions earlier this year I would get calls that half a dozen horses had yet again got loose on a blind S bend on an NSL road and I'd go down and try and sort them out. One was at night, cold, dark...with an extremely unsavoury owner on the way and I was alone...but not for long. Ibblebibble and her lovely husband turned up and helped. She came out to help with them on a good few occasions and when the little one went missing one day, I was beside myself, so she spent her time on the phone to me.

The day Fly was PTS I was stood on the road waiting for the vet...I got a call from the vets to say they were delayed by half an hour and I was alone, not expecting Dan to turn up, worrying about how to handle a very nervous pony and my baby girl on my own so I called Ibblebibble and broke my heart to her on the phone. I don't cry very often, but she is such an amazing person, she was just there for me, on the end of the phone.

Gosh, there are so many of you that I feel bad not singling you all out, but you know who you are...FL, Moomin1, Ladyinred, LovesCobs, 3Beasties, arrrggghhh, so many of you. Thank you all xxx

I am reading and thank you very much for your kind words. It has been a pleasure to work with you and Juno - you worked very hard with her and deserve things to be going well :)
 
Joycec and Alec Swann have been really kind to me when I have felt really down and I think they are wonderful. There have been some lovely comments made by others recently in reference to my recent fall and also people that have genuinely tried to help me out with my horse when I have been in the pits of despair without being judgemental or down right nasty or unkind.

I continue to plod along on this forum as I know that for every nasty poster there are ten nice ones and I think its great that we all try and help each other out when we are in our hour of need, after all that is what its all about, to share advice and help people out.
 
Oh goodness, too many to name!! Most of all when Ned ran off and I thought I'd lost him. I still can't believe how quickly and efficiently everyone grouped together and spread the word. Because of all the help and kindness I was shown, I didn't lose hope that I'd find him safe and well. Just a few hours after I posted, he was found :D

That has to be one of the nicest things I've read on HHO. Restored my faith in people 100%.

I think the HHO forum held its collective breath that night.... What a huge relief when he was found. :)
 
Ant23uk kindly came and dug up a load of young field maples for me, just incase they do turn out to be linked to AM, as I was so worried and couldn't get them up myself.
 
The kindness of strangers on here is making me cry, thinking back 18 months. I was offered and given chocolate (thanks, Pippipony!), get well cards, waterproof wraps for the leg, pictures of similar injuries and how they healed and tons of messages to keep me entertained (Crugerancelt and Toffee44), a portable loo from someone's horsebox and even someone offering to take the horse for me til I was back up and running. I can't remember who that was and there were a ton of others who kept me sane with messages, offers of help, encouragement (Amymay and Alec, notably plus loads of others), everything. I will always love this place. :smile3:

GG, Pippipony and Emsarr have all given me direct help, bless their cotton socks :)
Not to mention all the wonderful posts and PM's when I lost my boy, as hard as it was it actually helped.

I find in the main the whole lot of HHO-ers to be an extremely helpful bunch and have seen a lot in my time here that really helps restore my faith that there are still lovely people in the world :)

One lovely lady (cptrayes i think it was ) kindly offered money to help put Damien to sleep. i thought that was super touching. Ive spoken to many people over the years who have offered me their wisdom and experience and i really am forever thankful.

Ah, thank you. She is a lovely little mare - if you ever want to come and visit her (in Hampshire) just drop me a PM. I'm sure she would love to see you!
