HHP/Equissage???

I can only speak for the Equissage, it is brilliant.! Both my horses love having it on and they are much softer and more receptive to work once they have worn it. One of my boys was quite stiff when i got him and it has helped loosen him up no end.

Ive had a demo of the equissage and though my gelding loved it and went to sleep my mare tried to kill me when i turned it up so im thinking the HHP would be better for her ??

Both my boys were wary of it to begin with but now they know what its all about they are fine, even if i turn it up quite high.

my friend who's a qualified Equine Massage Therapist doesn't rate the Equissage at all. having looked into both in detail, of the two, i'd go for the HHP.
but i'm going for a solarium instead...

Im getting one of those as well but have to wait for my new yard to be built later on this year !!!!

I used to work for Equissage, and I bought one a few months ago when Grace went onto box rest. I have seen the benefits for myself from the Equissage. Grace gets filled back legs when stood in due to bad mud rash causing lymphangitis. When using the Equissage they never once came up!!!

Grace is not overly keen on it and is pretty stressed when it is on (she is super nervous about noises) but she definitely improved the more I used it on her.

my mare isnt just wary though she is pretty dangerous !!

my (qualified equine massage therapist) friend says they're just not that good... they don't target specific areas, they can't feel for sore/tense bits (as your hands can), etc. put it this way, she had one given to her and doesn't bother using it...

I still use a physio, but the best way is to have a demo and see how you feel when it is tried on you... while Grace is having hers on, I lean my back against it (I have long term problems with my C2 and C3) and I feel so much more mobile after that! It has definitely cut the number of times I have to visit the physio down with my neck...

which one or both - they still have the physio every 2/3 months this is to warm her up as she is a scatty cow and if not warmed up will seriously try and dump me when i get on !!

I bought an Equissage beginning of December had a demo first because i wasnt sure what my horses would do. They loved it one was un-sure at first but love's it now.

I really am surprized by the results though after a month, i thought it would help a bit but it's helped loads. My WB who becomes stiff to the left is completely free & is builing up loads of topline over his back & my TB is a different horse he's suffered back problems for years & is now overtracking. Which for him is amazing!!

Im really pleased with my Equissage & couldnt recommend it enough.

But if your horse doesnt like it then don't get one, not every horse will like them. Thats why i choose a demo first because if one of my boys didnt like it & had of reacted badly to the Equissage i wouldnt of bought it. But im glad they did like it.

I also use the hand unit & the horses tend to tell you where the sore & tense bits are i also feel for them as im doing it. So i don't agree with your friend on this point, The horse wears the back pad at the same time also so an all over massage can be done. Or you can pin point area's with the hand unit.
I hate to say this but i feel that because your freind is a Massage Therapist she would say that about Equissage there compition. Not meaning to offend. I to still use Proffesionals, but my horses are 10x better for having the Equissage.

thanks well i have someone on here that has one only 6 months old and im definately considering it for her - she really hated the equissage - my gelding fell asleep though and he will need to to but then i cant have one of each !!

i can see your point, dressagecrazy, but my friend's on the other side of the country and i was asking about getting one to treat my horses (which she can't, being so far away, unfortunately), so she only had my horses' and my best interests at heart. she recommended a solarium instead.

Sorry about the new name; my usual sparkling imagination has been completly floored this year!!

Have used H wave a lot on all my horses and it definately removes any muscle soreness and tightness. They are not available to buy 'in public' you can only buy them through your physio.

Can't find any specific equine sites on them but here is the human one which does exactly the same;

oo interesting - how much are they? Have you had one on trial?

nope just calling now - much more expensive than the equissage but supposed to be better and sara went nuts with the equissage so im thinking the rug will be better !!

kerilli I've got the combined pulsed one, no leg wraps though. My old boy who had a fractured pelvis 10yrs ago is so much better for having it on. He doesn't come out so creaky if I use it pre-work, and the day after hunting it definitely softens any tight areas.

ST I think the pulsed one is 2k brand spanking new. Mine was £1600 and she let me pay over 3 mths (thank God!). I decided it would save me money on the chiropractor/physio so it was worth the investment.
