Afternoon all!

I have a question about if anyone knows if in the BHS stage 1 exam it is acceptable to put the dock over your shoulder when bandaging the tail?
I am taking this on Monday just for my own enjoyment/satisfaction of having a qualification/possiblility of maybe working in the industry and I got shown how to tail bandage yesterday but in the books i have read none of them mentioned if you can do this - help appreciated!

I also wanted to say Hi properly as I have just started reading/posting on this site and noticed people do this but I havent yet! So, hi! Im based in London now and dont have my horse anymore (I had a lovely chestnut mare) but am lucky enough to have access to almost daily riding!

Thanks

Hello! You're lucky to live in the big smoke and have daily riding, v jealous.

No, you can't put the tail over to bandage. Also make sure you try and stand slightly to the side or very close to the back end to show you're safe of the horse tried to kick. Finally tie the knot slightly to the side - you don't want the horse to lean back on the knot and risk uneven pressure on the dock.

Good luck with it!

Hi!
Thanks - yes i do count my lucky stars! Through knowing a very nice and useful person as most of these things are!

Thanks so much for that I would hate to fail on something so silly! I am going in tomorrow to practise on a willing horse then swotting up this weekend!
Thanks again!

Hi - and no, you can't put the tail over your shoulder.
Behave as though the horse was a kicker, and stand slightly to the side.
If you mess up through nerves - tell the examiner what's wrong with your bandage to prove that you know.
Good luck.
